"So what do you wanna do?" Phil asked as they exited Starbucks.

"I don't know" Dan stuttered slightly.

Never had he once fucking mumbled in front of someone.

"Come on let's go to the park. It's usually empty this time so we'll have some quiet time together" Phil said as he grabbed Dan's hands and they crossed the road to get to the park.

Dan was a little disappointed when Phil let go. They went in and sat down on one of the benches a little too close but that was okay as Phil silently stared ahead him.

"Phil?"

"Mhm"

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah yeah" Phil smiled. "I was just thinking"

"About?" Dan asked.

"I used to come here a lot you know with my parents" Phil smiled faintly.

"Oh"

"I miss them a lot you know"

"I am sorry" was all Dan said.

"It's not your fault" Phil smiled.

"I know" Dan said. "But I wish they were with you"

"Me too" Phil sighed. "At least I wouldn't have the need to sell drugs"

"It's not something you can help" Dan said. He couldn't believe he was actually justifying Phil's actions.

"I am ruining people's lives including yours" Phil said.

"We are equally responsible for it" Dan said.

"Let's change the topic yeah" Phil said.

Dan nodded.

"So how long have you been living in London?" Phil asked.

"About 3 months" Dan answered.

"Oh and before that?" Phil asked.

"LA" Dan said the first place that came to his mind.

"Ooh awesome" Phil said.

"Yeah"

"So why did you move?" Phil asked.

"College" Dan lied.

"Okay"

"What about you? Have you lived here all your life?"

"Yes" Phil answered.

"Do you have any friends back in LA?"

"Nah not really"

"Me too. I sort of distanced away from people ever since you know..."

"Yeah"

There was a momentary silence.

"Any girlfriend?" Dan asked and then wanted to punch himself.

Phil laughed.

"What do you think?" he asked.

"Me too" Dan quietly said.

"At least we have each other" Phil said.

That sentence made Dan much more happy than it should have.

Over the course of the month they only became closer.

Coffee dates (what Dan liked to call them) became a routine. So was spending loads of time at Phil's house playing Mario Kart. Dan being new to the game still managed to beat Phil every time making Phil very grumpy and his little brother laugh.
