Decrepit Inside [Ruvik x Reader]

Prologue

  A low, frustrated groan escaped your lips as the character on screen once again fell limp to the ground. This must've been the hundredth time you died at the same spot. Which was odd, considering the fact you'd beaten this game so many times before.

  "This fucking boss..." you growled under your breath as the game loaded you back to the last checkpoint.

  "Do you really think you can defeat me?" the antagonist's arrogant voice rang through your headphones, as if it knew how many times you'd failed.

  "Oh, fuck off. If you knew how many times I killed you before, you wouldn't be so cocky, Ruben," you mocked, smashing a complex chain of buttons on the controller as if it were nothing.

  "You cannot destroy me. I am the god of this world. You are nothing," he spoke almost as if it were a direct reply to you.

  You snorted, left with nothing else to say except, "Go screw yourself."

  You could've sworn you saw the character model's mouth twitch upwards. But then he directed an attack towards you, and you were forced to concentrate without questioning it.

  The battle continued on for what felt like an eternity. You managed to dodge most of his hits, but still suffered a lot of damage. It was exhausting and much more challenging than you remembered, which only added to your overall frustration.

  As you were finally about to nail your last attack, a horrendously loud high-pitched noise erupted what should've been the sound of your victory.

  You yelled out in agony, ripping your headphones off and throwing them to the ground. But the sound remained. It resonated inside your head, as if an explosive had gone out right next to you.

  It was so painfully loud you couldn't think, and could hardly even breath. All you could do was cup your ears and grit your teeth, hoping it would stop. But it never did.

  The last thought you had before passing out was how it might've been a good idea to leave the game as it was, without striving to defeat Ruvik, and then the world went dark.
