The two figures stood staring at the wrecked car in front of them. They remained unseen by the police officers and first responders that walked around the site of the crash. The lights from the police cars shined brightly trough the darkness surrounding them as pedestrians stood by watching the scene in curiosity. A girl no older than six was rushed onto a stretcher towards an ambulance as blood pooled from the big gash on her forehead. The obscured figures followed her body as it was placed in the back of the vehicle, before turning their attention back to the destroyed car.
"I do not understand. Why was the child allowed to live? Why was he permitted to do this? She is an abomination. A disgrace to our kind as well as humanity. One that could destroy the world with the snap of a finger should her power remain intact." The figure on the right spoke with disgust in his voice.
"It is the lords will, brother. We are only meant to interfere to a certain degree. The child has an important role to play in the events to come, just as much as we do." This figure spoke in a calm manner, not at all as bothered about the situation at hand.
"She is dangerous Raphaele. You know this better than most." The figure spoke, facing the calm figure to his left.
"Indeed, I do. It was also God who commanded that we not destroy her, or have you forgotten?" He turned towards the figure on his right. "Are you questioning Gods will brother?" He spoke with authority while placing his hands behind his back. The figure's eyes widened; he shook his head quickly.
"No of course not! I just can not help but wonder if the child will bring harm to those we have sworn to protect. This gamble the lord is playing is dangerous. If she does not join us when the time is right... Would it not be easier to end her now? Don't tell me you have not thought the same." The calm figure turned his back towards the wreckage after a pause.
"We wait for the lords command and observe the child as he has instructed." The man spoke with frustration in his voice.
The other figure nodded his head as the one who had previously spoken disappeared. The sound of wings flapping faintly filled the air. The last figure gave a frustrated sigh as he stared at the car. He didn't agree with the decisions that had been made tonight. They would be keeping a very close eye on the child from now on, that much was certain.
