I've got to suck it up, she shouldn't have this much control over me. I'm being that overly sensitive ex-boyfriend that can't get over his ex-girlfriend. I need to make up my mind now: move on or try to win her back.

Winning her back sounds easier than it'll be. She was really pissed at me and, looking back, I wouldn't blame her. I deserved to be dumped. But I'm gonna change that. I'm gonna do everything that I can to prove to her that we belong together and I'll never hurt her again.

After math, I went to chemistry, my last class of the day. Sadly Brooke isn't there, but Ashton is, so he could probably give me a few ways to win her back.

I went into the classroom and sat at my lab table. Ashton came in and sat at the table in front of me with his partner and my partner came in and sat down.

"Hey, Luke. How are you holding up?" He turned and asked. It's pretty obvious everyone knows, news around here spreads like wildfire.

"I'll live, she was just another girl." I shrugged.

Yeah, the only girl you actually cared about.

"So I'm guessing you're free to go out with us this weekend." He said.

I thought about it. I could either devote all of my time into winning Brooke back, or I can go have some fun with my friends and not worry about any consequences until the next day.

"I'm in," I said.

He didn't say what we were gonna do, but I didn't care all that much, I just needed to get out. I deserve this little bit of freedom. I was always with her and barely around my best friends. But after this weekend, I'm gonna be hard at work proving to her I can be a good boyfriend.

Once the teacher explained the experiment, we got to work. My partner and I put on our goggles and got started.

"Could you pass me the cesium?" I asked.

"I'm a little busy at the moment." She said rather rudely. I don't know her, but she's usually quiet and not so rude.

"Okay then." I reached over and grabbed it myself and took a small piece out of the bag with some tool that resembled tweezers.

I was about to drop it into the glass bowl of water when she stopped me.

"What do you think you're doing?" She moved the bowl away from me.

"Uh, the assignment," I said.

"The assignment isn't to create an explosion and have shards of glass shooting in different directions. Don't you know mixing water and cesium creates cesium peroxide?" She asked.

"Yeah, of course." I lied.

She rolled her eyes and shook her head and got back to work. I put the small piece of metal back and just let her work on her own.

"Do you have a pen?" She asked. "I need to fill out the lab sheet."

"Oh, now you want my help?" I asked with just as harsh a tone as she's been using with me.

"I just want to borrow a pen." She stated, making her annoyance obvious.

"What's your problem?" I asked as I handed her a pen. I didn't want to, but she's smart and if she's willing to do all the work, I can get an easy A.

"I don't take too kindly to people knocking me down in the hallway and not apologizing." She glared at me.

So she's the person I bumped into. Apparently today I'm upsetting people left and right.

"Oh...well...I...uh...apologize for bumping into you earlier," I said.

She gives me a look and continues to work.

"Hey, I said I was sorry. The least you can do is accept it. You don't have to keep being a bitch." I said.

She threw the pen down. "I'm not being a bitch, that apology didn't sound sincere, so I'm not gonna forgive you. Why don't you let me continue working while you sit there and mope over the fact that you got dumped?" She picked the pen back up and wrote some more on the paper.

That was a low blow, but I wasn't gonna let her know her comment affected me in any way. Instead of being petty and going back and forth with her, I kept my mouth shut.

I don't even know this girl's name and I don't like her. We've only been partners for about two weeks since my teacher assigns new ones every quarter. From what I've seen, no one in this class talks to her and this is the only class we share. I see her in the hallways sometimes, but from the top of my head, I don't recall her walking with anyone.

A few minutes before the bell rang, Mr. Hilton stopped us and had us put our materials away. She packed everything up and put them in their respective places.

"Did you at least finish?" I asked, glancing at the sheet. She wrote both of our names at the top. Her name is Avery.

"Yeah, no thanks to you." She put her textbook in her bag.

"You told me to stay out of your way, I was just following directions," I remarked.

She rolled her eyes and turned our work in. I went over to Ashton's table until the bell rang.

"There's a party Saturday at eight," Ash said as we walked out the room. "No better way to get over a girl than getting drunk and having a few dance on you." He laughed.

I forced a laugh. "Yeah, nothing like it."

"So you'll be there?" He asked.

"Sure." I nodded. What can it hurt?

"Great, I'll send you the address later."

We met up with Mike and Cal and walked out towards the parking lot. After talking for a little longer we got in our cars and left.

This party is going to be good for me. And it's going to be a one-time thing. I'll go out and party with my best friends, enjoy the single life and afterward, win her back. That way, I'll be able to get it out of my system and won't have to worry about slipping up. It's probably best to give her space anyway. I'll let her clear her head and then we can talk. Well patch things up and be together and happy again.

This'll work, I know it will.
