Flashback

I looked around the boring, white walls, feeling nothing but the coldness of the ward. This is not what I wanted for my mum's final days. I wanted to take her to somewhere loving and caring and colourful: it's much too late now.

I gripped my sisters hand tighter to stop the tears falling down her cheeks. Although she didn't know what was happening, she could probably feel the tense atmosphere, see the threatening tears in my bloodshot eyes. It felt like everything was going so slowly, even though the hospital staff where rushing around mum's bed, trying to do everything they could to save her, but I knew there was no hope. She had been too ill for too long and it was too late.

"Beep.Beep. Be..."

That was it. I watched as the already fading colour disappeared from her cheeks, along with her bubbly personality. Mum was gone and no one could do anything about it.
