Our relationship started off as a cliché. She tripped in the hallways and just before she fell to the ground, I had caught her. It's funny how God works. How fate works. One second you'd be roaming the halls of the school you had been attending for four years like you usually do, and the next your day is completely changed by just one person. Just one encounter. Just one quick reflex. Just one catch. And perhaps even one small mumble.

"Thanks," is what left her mouth the second she was propped on her feet again. She had spoken one word to me and then walked off. She seemed like a very shy girl at first. She didn't have many friends and she hardly spoke to anyone. So when I found myself sitting at her table in the cafeteria that day casually talking to her, I had felt a sudden sense of accomplishment. She hadn't talked to anyone outside of her small group since school started and to be the first outsider that she talks to felt like a really big deal to someone like me. And to be fair, it actually was a big deal.

Little did I know what would happen after that day. Just one run-in can change everything. And I mean, everything.
