Augh! Finally! An update I'm actually proud of!! [: Enjoy!

Jordan's POV:

That girl, I think bitterly to myself as I trudge down the path. I try to help her, and she goes off. She'll never survive in these woods alone. Never.

I heave a deep sigh and kick at a leaf. I glance up and see nothing but grey, disappointing sky filtering through the canopy of trees whose leaves looked black in the approaching evening. I sigh again and keep walking until I come to a big rock. I walk slowly over to it and sit down, resting my face in my hands.

I just want to help her, I think as I feel my whole body shudder. Tears balanced on my eyelashes, but wouldn't give me the relief of spilling over.

Suddenly, I feel something grab my arm and pin it behind my back.

"Hey, what the-" before I can get my sentence out and turn to see my captor, my arm gets pulled upward with an amazing force. I try to scream out in pain, but a huge hand covers my mouth, cutting it short.

"Well, well," says my captor with a small, dangerous laugh.

Deryck. No. He's pulling my arm so hard that I see colors. He pulls the slightest bit harder and forces me to my feet. Now we're both standing, my back to him. In one fluent motion he releases my arm, turns me around, and grasps my shoulders.

"Way to by yourself some time," he says with a snicker. "Clever, I'll give you that, that bat could be a useful weapon someday for me." Shit. I didn't think he would remember once he woke up.

"Now where's the girl?" he hissed.

"I-I don't know," I say weakly, feeling a pit form in my stomach from the lingering pain in my arm. "Honest."

"Hah, I refuse to believe that," scoffs Deryck, squeezing my shoulders. "If you won't lead me to her, there's a little price to pay."

"I'm telling you, I don't know!" I yell, forcing myself not to cry in front of him. "She was here, but ... but she walked off. I don't know where she is." Deryck's grip lessened a bit, but just long enough for him to spin me back around and regain his death grip on my arm.

"Walk," he growls, forcing me forward. "We'll find her together, whether you want to tell me where she is or not. We'll find her."

We. I hated that word when it meant Deryck and I.

Get out Zoey, I pray silently as I'm forced forward a few more feet. Please be safe. I love you.

Zoey's POV:

Stupid Jordan, I grumble in my head. My face was red and damped from crying, and a scratch on my cheek was stinging more and more every minute as salty tears crept towards it.

Fuck my life.

I walk in a lonely, agonizing silence, a part of me wishing Jordan was here to comfort me, and another part wanting nothing to do with him ever again.

"Zoey!" Called a deep voice in the distance.

I knew that voice.

That voice made me fear for my very life.

That voice belonged to Deryck.

Shit! How had he found me?! My head was spinning, begging for the answer, thinking of a hiding place, silently praying for the comfort of Jordan.

Unfortunately, my head was spinning so fast, that I didn't have time to hide.

From a thick clump of trees emerged Jordan, and just as I was about to sprint towards him and enclose him in an everlasting hug, I noticed he was being forced forwards.

By Deryck.
