Chapter 10 | Dinner

After the long awkward silence, we finally arrived at Derek's house.
We were outside the modern residence, when he held my hand and asked a question.

"Is there anything that's bothering you?" he stuttered.
"Yeah. I mean, no; not at all." I lie.
"If you only knew," I muttered to myself.

"Listen, I can feel it when something is wrong so just tell me. What is going on?" he frowned.
"What were you really about to say back there?" I looked at him.
"Attributed." he lied.

"Really?" I ask, to confirm.
"Yes."
"Attributed? Really? You aren't the only one who can sense things. I can feel it when someone is lying to me." I confronted.

He was just quiet; he probably didn't know what to say.
"I don't appreciate it when someone lies to my face." I said in a sarcastic tone.
"Promise me you won't find me weird even after I tell you." he made me promise.

I just nodded and insisted that he would go on with his explanation.
"Attractive. I was about to say attractive but you might find it weird so I just dropped it." he seemed honest so I let it go.

"Okay." I smiled,
He was about to get out of the car when I held his hand to stop him.
"Can I ask something else?" I let go of his hand.
"Sure, what is it?" he settled back onto his seat.

"This morning you said something about me being off limits. What did you mean by that?" I tried to avoid awkwardness but it hits when it wants to.
For some reason, this time around it wanted to hit.

"Am I arranged with someone else already?" I confronted with a worried look.
He bursted out laughing at my statement.
"What is so funny?" I was offended.

"You become really cute when you are so serious." he complimented.
"You're not so bad yourself."
"Oops," I mumbled to myself.

I had just realized what I said.
"Forget. Forget. Forget. Elaina. Fix yourself." I told myself.
"Uh, your Mark's cousin. He told me that I couldn't be in a relationship with anyone that he was related to because he didn't want to see me in reunions or anything such as the subject. The guy was probably scared that I'd rat him out on all the girls he's been dumping." he told the story.

"Oh." it was all that I could reply.
"But don't worry there's an exception to every rule." he winked at me.
I giggled and watched him as he opened the door for me and all.

"Exception? What exception?" I asked myself over and over again.

When we were right outside the door, Derek had opened it for us to come inside.
Out of nowhere, Dan placed his arm around me, when we entered.

I was completely fine with it. His vanilla scent was there once again.
I saw Andy and Darren seated at the dining area, probably ready for the interrogation, I meant dinner.
"Elaina," Derek called.

I turned around; which caused Jordan's arm to fall off my shoulder.
He swiftly held my hand and turned around.
"Yeah?" I asked.

"We could eat dinner first and then, we could have the session." Derek offered.
"Sure, that'd be great." I answered.
"Come, let's eat outside. I believe they have something to talk about." he held his hand out.

Jordan gave the hand a gentle and brotherly slap downwards.
It was as if he was giving him a high five from a different angle.
"No thanks, she can eat with me." he talked back.
