"You like someone," Lydia grilled me suddenly. Allison became silent, looking over at Lydia staring me down. She'd been going on and on about this hot boy at school, but neither of us had been paying attention. She wasn't talking about Scott so I didn't care and I didn't care so Lydia was interested so she didn't care. We kind of fed each other like that.

I'd liked Scott for years. Lydia had been oblivious to this forever, since I hadn't been important to her until Allison came to town. I was the side girl.mi was average in every way so no one had any reason to pay attention to me. But then when Allison came to town, my shyness seemed to take a back seat and I talked to her. We were laughing about something when Lydia came up to her, making her her knew best friend, the thing was, we were already friends, so Lydia accepted us as a package deal.

Which was nice. Lydia was a good friend.min fact, once you looked under the initial facade she put on, she was an overall good person.

Now, as were hanging up on an average Wednesday afternoon at lunch, I went to my usual activity of staring at Scott dreamily without anyone noticing, except, now, Lydia was around, and Lydia noticed everything. Thankfully aid felt her eyes the second they were on me and I'd looked away before she could tell I was staring at Scott. But she knew I was staring at SOMEONE. Not good...

"I guess," I said nonchalantly, shrugging. "You were saying, Allison?" I asked her, looking up.

"So there's this really cute guy in my science class," she began again. I didn't look at Scott again though I wanted to so badly, and Lydia let it drop, but I knew she was watching me carefully. "He's funny. He made this joke and I-" I wasn't listening.

I got up. "I'm going to dump my trash. Be right back, okay?"

Allison nodded and so did Lydia, but Lydia nodded very slowly and in an overly calculated way. When I walked away, Allison continued her story but I felt Lydia's eyes on me. I dumped my tray and I turned, running right into someone.

"Oh geeze! Sorry! I'm a clutz even with- never mind. I'm just a clutz." That voice...

My face went red as I looked up into Scott's beautiful puppy dog eyes.

"I-I-I-it's okay-y," I stuttered, almost dropping my empty tray. I clutched it to my chest, watching him for a few seconds with wide, startled eyes. Then I looked at my feet, walking past him.

"Oh-Kay," I heard him whisper.

I shook my head. Stupid... I was pathetic I swear.

I sat back down, trying to fake interest as Allison asked me a question, putting me into the conversation. "One sec, Ally," she said. "I have to go... Dump my tray." Lydia stood, smiling innocently and Allison nodded again, tired of being interrupted. I watched her dump her tray then set it on the top, turning. She caught Scott's eye and smiled, waving flirtatiously and winking. Scott's eyes went a mile wide and he waved back stiffly, not sure why she was noticing him. My face was burning with anger and my jaw and hands clenched. She looked over at me immediately and I realized... She'd been testing me. She smirked as she realized I was angry over her flirting with Scott.

She knew I liked him. She'd figured it out.

Shit.

She walked up to their table and sat down, chatting. Stiles seemed to freeze, staring at her with boggled eyes, she kept all her attention on Scott, no longer flirting, but getting down to business, seeming serious. She moved her hands as she spoke.

Was she telling him? Oh my gosh... I felt my heart snap as the most horrible betrayal she could have done happened before my eyes. Scott looked over at me and Allison and when he caught my eye, I shot to my feet, running out of the room.

I hated Lydia Martin.

I ran and ran until I was out of the school. I kept running.

"Y/n! Y/n! Wait, Y/n, stop!" Scott was calling me but I kept running, sobbing. I ran all the way to the field, not sure why I stopped running here. I knew I couldn't leave the school, but I had to get out. This seemed the most logical place.

"Uh, y/n? Are you... okay?" Scott asked.

"I'm fine," I said, not turning around.

"I know you're lying. You're- uh, your voice. Cracked. You've been crying..."

I sighed, wrapping my arms across my chest. "What do you want, Scott?" I asked.

"Why did you run out?" He asked.

"What did Lydia tell you?" I snapped.

"What?" He asked.

"What did Lydia tell you?" I repeated.

"She told me... I believe, in exact words, 'I have this really hot friend. She's super shy but I think you two would hit it off. Wanna meet her? She's over there.'"

I turned around. "Wh-what?" I asked.

"She told me that you were hot," he shrugged.

I laughed. "No, I mean... She didn't tell you... Never mind." I smiled, shaking my head. "I'm such an idiot," I whispered, rubbing my face.

He laughed. "Well, I have to agree with her," he said. "You're hot."

I looked up. "R-really?" I asked, beaming.

He shrugged. "Scott McCall. You are?" He held his hand out.

I took it. "Uh, Y/n Y/n/l," I told him.

"Nice to meet you... Wanna go get you cleaned up then go in? I know Lydia. Pretty, uh, well actually. We don't associate in public, but, ya know, we talk and hang out. A lot, actually."

"Are you mystery dude?" I asked. "Texts, calls, disappearing acts. Allison too... Man, I didn't realize that you guys were friends."

"We keep it under the radar," he explained.

"I see," I chuckled.

"Well, wanna come hang out or something?" He asked, motioning to the school.

I smiled. "Uh... Sure," I responded, smiling at my feet.

"Don't look down," Scott told me softly. "I like those pretty eyes where I can see them." I looked up and he smiled, nodding back at the building. We started walking and on the way, he took my hand. I jumped but I didn't let go.

I loved Lydia Martin.
