I woke up a couple hours later to the sound of a female scream. I groaned and sat up. I looked at the clock and it was 6:37 in the evening. "Just let me go!" My mother pleaded, breaking into sobs at the end. I went down the stairs just in time to watch him pull out a gun and shoot her in the head. I stared, horrified at what I'd just seen. He noticed my presence and aimed the gun at me. I turned and ran as fast as I could. I ran and cried and ran and cried. And ran. And cried. I turned down a deserted street and was terrified to see innocent people there. They might get hurt because of me. They looked familiar, but I couldn't tell who they were, since all I could see was the backs of their heads. I ran straight into the one in the back, falling so hard I landed on my butt. The person I ran into was a guy. "Watch where you're going ya klutz!" Said the ice blue-eyed guy. He realized I was crying and a confused look crossed his face. I mumbled a sorry, got up and ran again. Only to trip and stumble into a girl. She was blonde with welcoming green eyes. I realized that these people were them. Once again I mumbled a sorry and got right back to running. What has gotten into me?? My reflexes are usually so much better. It's just the panic. "Wait!" She called after me. She broke into a sprint, caught up to me, and grabbed my wrist. She was strong, despite her petite figure. "What's wrong?" She asked me with actual concern. "I have to go. He's chasing me. He's gonna hurt you too if you don't let go. I don't want innocent people getting hurt because of me. Please let go." I say twisting my arm and trying to break her grip. I see him sprint around the block, gun in hand. Shit shit shit shit shit shit shit. These people are gonna die because of me. "River Allison Stone! I can see you, you little slut. Just let me blow your brains out like I did your mother!" Tony yells, sprinting towards me. I finally broke the girls grasp and started running again. That's when I heard an ear splitting bang. I looked back but everything was normal. Tony was now shoving the blue-eyed guy to get to me when the green-eyed girl said "Chris, do something" and ran towards me. My side felt warm and wet. That's when everything went dark and I realized I'd been shot.
