O1// The supposable Proposal

I walked swiftly in the halls, dodging built male bodies and curvy females, given a few overweight people, desperatley wanting to escape hell. I hated school because even if I knew people thought of me as an innocent angel, and nobody had gossip to spread about me that was worthwhile, I still felt like everyone was judging me. I constantly had a war going on inside my head, arguing over wether these people were laughing at me or a hilarious joke their fellow pupils made. I could never decide.

I was a paranoid mess, especially when people would stare at me. It's like they wanted me to choke up and crumble under their intimidating gaze.

Just like this mysterious boy did all the time who happened to be placed in most of my classes. Instead of actually focusing on his work or the lecture given by our teachers he would stare at me, and I would shift around in my seat a lot as an uncomfortable victim of his eyes.

Maybe he was staring at something behind me, even though I usually was sat by a wall. I just didn't know why he looked at me! I once asked him to stop outside of class, but he chuckled and walked away from me. The nerve! Luckily, he wasn't at school today to stare me down with his piercing emerald eyes. I have to admit, he was extremely good looking, though. That's off topic.

I gripped the handle of my bag hanging from my shoulder and broke out of the school doors, full of a sweet desire for Richard. My car, Richard. It was my favorite thing in the world, besides all of my art supplies at home that I rarely touched but admired nowadays.

The car ride home was short since my house was in the neighborhood next to the school. I clicked the lock button on my keys for Richard and sighed as I sauntered towards the porch. My family lived in a small, safe neighborhood with the perfect looking house. There was a white picket fence, with small nicely cut bushes and consistently trimmed grass. The perfect picture. Except it wasn't.

I opened the door using my house keys, since I was always alone until dinner when my parents got off work, and walked towards the stairs. When I spotted something from the corner of my eye I stopped and looked back.

"Mom? Dad? What are you doing home?" I asked, walking into the family room. When I got closer I noticed another person, a male in fact.

"Who's this?" I asked after they didn't answer my first question.

"Seraphina, why don't you go put your bag away in your room and come back to have a chat." My mom insisted.

"Oh-okay." My eyebrows furrowed in confusion, but despite the want to question this weird scenario I did as I was told and sat in the loveseat. Wait, is that the guy that always stares me down in my classes? Why the fuck was he here?

"Umm-" I was cautiously staring at him until my dad interrupted me.

"This is Cade sweetheart, and he came to us about a week ago when you were away at your friend Bethany's house." He explained, and I slowly nodded.

"I'm not following." I stated, and my mom fiddled with her glass of wine.

"He's been here all day proposing to us his... ideas." My mom added.

"Oh?"

"Yeah, but I guess we should tell you exactly what since it revolves entirely around you." My dad inhaled deeply while giving me an uneasy look. "Since you turned 18 last week and you are officially an adult, we have considered and accepted Cade's plans."

"I'm still confused." I said, but the uneasiness in his voice made me feel unsettled, and my fingers began to shake.

"Seraphina, you are to marry Cade in the next month and move in with him. There will be no objections or arguments over this, because your mother and I feel like this is best for you, despite the danger that comes with it."
