Chapter 9: Behind a Mystery

Not far from the human world, only a portal away, there was a Gorgon World lurking in the great shadows of another dimensions. It must have been centuries now since they were all hiding in the darkness. Thanks to Athena’s curse, Gods, mortals, mythological creatures or any beings treated them like an animal. Nothing but a hideous monster, they were executed to lived in isolation.

After Medusa died, and Olympian Gods punished Atlanteans after they gave their help for them, they were living in this world with no sun or moon to lighten their world.

They lived in fear and anger.

And vengeance was the only way to fulfill their contentment.

And the only thing that would break their curse is to kill the direct descendant of Medusa and Poseidon.

Xera was standing near the glass window of her room. She wore black magnificent embroidered dress that matched with her hair. She was elegant and sophisticated. She heard nothing but silence. No laughter. No joy. Only sorrow and pain were there on the night air. She felt it since she was just a kid.

This place was almost like a perfect place for dead people. 

“I’m sorry Ms. Xera. The heiress has escaped again.”

“What do you mean she’s escaped?!” Anger filled in Xera’s eyes as he met with gaze. She was a gorgon, one of the descendants of Medusa’s immortal sisters.  At dahil sa curse ni Athena, hindi lang ang pagiging halimaw sa anyo nila ang nagbago. Nawalan din sila ng immortality.

At dahil twenty-three years old lang siya, nakakapag-anyong tao pa din siya kapag lulubog na ang araw. Pero isa na siyang Gorgon kapag sasapit na umaga. At tuluyan na siyang magiging halimaw nang sapilitan kapag magbi-beinte-singko na siya.

Dalawang taon na lang, magiging ganap na ang kanyang pagiging Gorgon.

Unfair para sa kanya. She hated Medusa’s descendant.  Kung ikukumpara, mas matindi ang kanilang sakripisyo kaysa sa kanila. Ang mga Gorgon na nagmula sa lahi ni Medusa, saka lang magiging Gorgon pagdating ng takdang edad. At sa gabi lang din sila magiging Gorgon, tao pa din silang mamumuhay sa umaga hanggang pagtanda nila. Unlike them.

They had a chance to live.

While they had no chance at all.

Pero ang pinaka-unfair sa lahat, they committed no crime at all. Biktima lang silang lahat ng nakaraan pero nandito sila ngayon, pinaparusahan sa isang kasalanang hindi naman nila ginawa.

Living as a monster,  Xera knew that they all deserved more than that.They deserved to live in happiness… in the light… not in here.

Pagsapit ng takdang oras, ang mga katulad ni Xera, napipilitan mabuhay sa mundong kagaya nito.

“Someone helped her, Ms. Xera. A human guy.” Isang lalaki ang nasa harapan niya ngayon, bumalik siya sa wisyo. Mukhang takot na takot habang nagbibigay ng impormasyon sa isa sa anak ng kanilang respetadong Pinuno. Walang iba kundi si Xera. Wala pa sa edad na beinte-singko kagaya niya kaya nakakapag-anyong tao pa. Nasa isang silid sila pareho.

“Sinasabi mo sa ‘kin na natalo silang lahat ng isang tao lang??”, Kausap ni Xera ngayon ang kanyang loyal na alagad na si Kreto. He was a Xera’s spy. Lahat ng utos niya, sinusunod nito nang walang tanong tanong pa. Si Xera ang nag-utos na hanapin ang heiress nila para paslangin.
