I laugh. "I won't, don't worry. Alright... let's see. Hmm... why did you join the military all those years ago?"

He thinks and his smile disappears as he looks at the ground before him... "I can't say that I really knew why at first. Somehow I just knew that's where I belonged. Bucky told me it was just me feeling like I had to be better than those who put me down; than the loss that I had been through when my mother died of pneumonia a couple years earlier. But he was wrong. It wasn't about proving something to anyone. It was about doing what was right. But he did stay with me after the death of my mother, so I didn't have anyone but him. My father was already gone. Died when I was a kid... I knew how it felt to lose someone you love. And when the second world war started... and I saw the footage from the fields of war... and the devastation occurring overseas... I nod and place my hand on his back. "Well it was worth it. If you hadn't of done that, you wouldn't be here now. And that brings me to my next question. Do you miss your old life often?"

He thinks for a while and then subtly shakes his head. "No... I wouldn't trade anything for my past... but I also wouldn't go back to it if I could. Where we are is important. And I'll always cherish old times in my life... but I know that today and tomorrow are more important. I have a purpose now in this short life. And you can be damn sure I won't waste it."

I smile. "Well I'm glad to hear that. Anyway, let's see...—Hang on a second, did you say that you had no parents? Does anyone here have parents?"

He chuckles at my blunt attitude and says, "Wait... Okay Thor does." He looks at me with a frown as he tries to think of who else does, waiting for me to help him...

I purse my lips in thought. "Hmm... maybe Clint? No, I don't think he has them. I think... I think Thor is the only one."

"No 'cause..." he frowns and looks away in confusion... "Wow... That's depressing..."
