“Hmm....Hunter’s,” the woman said. “The big bad boys of this new world.  Think you’re all high and mighty.” She shook her head and made a clicking sound. “I think that it’s time someone put you in your place.”

Drake reached for his belt and removed the small curved blade from the hidden sheath on the inside.  He began to saw through the restraints around his wrists. “Hey, there’s no reason to be killing anyone.  We can all be friends, can’t we?” Drake asked.

“Why should I listen to you Hunter?  You are just a mindless killing machine,” she snarled.

Drake looked around for a moment, “Well, lets start for one.  I am the only Hunter here, my friend here, is a go between for Enix and Dontnod.  His supplies are in the back of that rover and I am just escorting him to Enix pro bono.  We are carrying medical supplies and water for their infirmary.  Some high grade elven medicine, plus liquid morphine and lesser strength pain killers, sedatives, bandages, antibiotic steroids, bandages, you name it.  It’s just medical supplies and water.”  Drake knew that technically was only half the truth. The duffel bag had false bottom in it containing all of his money. However the medicinal assets were also inside the bag and Enix was due for a shipment from Dontnod.

“Medical supplies?  You seriously want me to think that this man,” she pointed to Gabriel, “shuttles medical supplies between Dontnod and Enix?  Enix would never accept help from those fucking pointy eared freaks.”

“Well, they did,” Drake said and looked to Gabriel. Nudging him, Gabriel looked ready to jump out of his skin.

“Yes,” Gabriel said hastily, “yes, the elven Princess, Talesa, made a deal with the heads of Enix.  In return for the information Enix provides on criminal activity and any known, living Lyrakk associates, Dontnod provides medical supplies and protection from siege.”

Drake groaned and let his head fall.  Gabriel couldn’t lie well, scratch that, he couldn’t lie period. The restraints popped loose from Drake's wrist and he wrapped his fingers around the blade, hiding it and removing the second with his other hand.

"You are lying," the woman scoffed. "Kill this one," she pointed to Gabriel, "He won't put up much of a fight."

The one man pulled Gabriel's head back and another put the barrel of a plasma rifle to his forehead.

"Nobody has to die here," Drake interjected, sliding his foot up underneath his body, ready to spring up. "As I said, we have a tens of thousands of shells worth of medicine.  Take it, take it.  Dontnod has plenty more, they won’t be happy with us, but  they will replace the medicine.  Take all of it, hell its not like I get a pay cut out of it.”

“Men are all the same,” she seethed, “greedy, pompous, self serving, assholes.  So, once we are done killing your escortee, we are going to rob you, beat you into the ground, and then send you limping home to Dontnod.  So you can tell that precious Princess of theirs that Enix doesn’t need her help!”

Drake lunged at her, driving his shoulder into her stomach and blowing her onto her back.  Spinning the blades out, he lashed out quickly and caught the man with the rifle in the neck, a crunch slowing the blades travel through his neck.  Yanking him away from Gabriel, Drake ripped the knife from his neck and dropped the man to the ground.  He turned and threw the knife in his left hand at the man behind Gabriel.  THe knife stuck into the side of his neck and he fell away, clutching his neck.  Drake spun around and covered Gabriel’s body with his, as he forced Gabriel onto his stomach. “You stay down here, or I will kill you and leave you with them.  Got it?”

Gabriel rapidly nodded and Drake got up, turning and kicking the closest man in the chest, before driving his knife into his throat.  Blood gushed out of the open wound and spattered Drake’s suit.  He ignored the hot blood on his chest and threw the remaining knife into the eye of the furthest man away.  The closer of the two men, spun full circle to watch his buddy fall to the ground with a knife in his eye.  Drake covered the distance quickly, grabbing the man’s head and twisting.  A series of pops later and the man when limp.  Lowering him to the ground, he retrieved the knives from the men on the ground and knelt down over Gabriel.  Snapping the restraints, he heard the woman rush to her feet and the whir of a plasma generator.
