"Her name is Isabelle, ya know?" I started, focusing my attention on Damon. His eyes were glowing red. "She has never experienced anything like this. She is brand new to this fucking world we serve in. She has only been with one other master before and you are teaching her nothing except that you cannot be satisfied."

Damon reached for my throat and wrapped his fingers tightly around it. His eyes had gone from red to black with fury, but I couldn't stop now. "We were taught to hate you and be terrified of you because humans couldn't understand supernaturals before and still mostly don't. We don't know anything about you that you haven't shown us and imagine how scary that is to us being your food source."

His hard jaw softened a little and so did his posture. His grip loosened around my neck, "What makes you think you have the right to talk to me like that, slave? You think that somehow you can save her? Protect her?"

"I'm not challenging you, Master Damon. I don't want to. I'm asking you to see that the only thing she can possibly learn from you right now is how to be afraid and that nothing she does will ever be enough to escape your wrath."

Damon looked me up and down. He was assessing my level on conviction on the matter. My heart was beating a mile a minute and I'm sure he could hear it, but he released my throat and my posture changed just slightly.

"I bought her. She tried to run from me and she was punished for it. So every time she disobeys, and I've warned her, she gets punished." His lips turned up in a wicked grin. "And she is quite punishable. Now move out of my way or I will punish you as well. And trust me, I would get a whole lot of let of pleasure out of it."

"Then do it." My voice was robotic. It didn't even seem to come from my throat at first but when he took a step back and glanced at Calvin, I knew it had been me that said it.

"What?" Damon gripped my hair is fist, exposing my neck to him.

"I said, then do it." I forced my eyes to remain on his, "I have spent so much time in fear and the monsters I thought you were, only to learn you aren't all that way." My eyes cut to Calvin for a brief moment, "So show me, Master Damon, what kind of monster are you?"

"Come get her before I snap her neck, Calvin." Damon's voice was dark but the look on his face wasn't quite to smug anymore and that was as good as I would be for now.

Calvin wrapped his arm around my waist and moved me out of the way of Isabelle.

"Damon," He spun when he heard my address him without formality, "Not that it matters, but if you want her to do something different, perhaps teach her first before expecting her to know how."

She screamed as he threw her over his shoulder and begged him to just kill her if he hated her so much. I heard him growl from down the hallway followed my silence as he probably held her breath as she awaited his punishment.

I felt muscular arms wrap around my waist, more securely.

"No one has ever quite stood up to my brother like that." Calvin wasn't angry though, "He could have killed you for that. He could punish you for disrespecting him and speaking to him informally for that matter. Here I was thinking you were some delicate flower that I needed to take care of and you're like a cactus or something."

I let out a small laugh at that, "Why pick her if all he wanted to do was torture her? Surely there would have been someone that could have handled it better."

"Like you?"

I shrugged, "Like me."

"He cares for her. He actually had considered her before but she was brand new. I think she had only been there for a week, and the director guy implied she wouldn't be capable of surviving him."

"Why is he like that towards her?" I asked, "It's cruel."

Calvin hesitated, "Because a long time ago he loved a girl just like her. Innocent and pure and scared of life. And he did everything for that girl. He made the world safe for her and she could do no wrong in Damon's eyes but then, one day, she committed suicide."

My eyes flicked to the door and back to Calvin's face. He shrugged, "She left a note to him saying that she couldn't take it anymore. She couldn't pretend to be happy in his arms when she was just disgusted by his existence. It completely broke his heart and he has been that way ever since. He punishes the girls because he is scared that they will leave him, just like her."

"That's horrible."

"Which part? Her suicide or his behavior?"

Calvin led me out of the library and down the hallway in the direction of our rooms. "You can understand why he keeps her on such a tight leash now though. He loved her more than anything and Damon believes that maybe if he doesn't let Isabelle out of his sight that she won't do anything like that."

"Doesn't he know that broken toys just aren't the same?"

"Don't you know better than to stand up to a vampire?" He kissed my knuckles softly, "because that clearly still hasn't stopped you."

Author's Note: This is unedited and I do apologize about that but inspiration hit right before exhaustion did. I hope you like it and leave me a comment about something :)

Ahhhhhhh. Sorry it's been so long. It's a little short br I've had serious writers block. I think the next chapter will actually be the brother's POV. Comment and vote and tell me what you think. I write for you
