18 Days Until...

Brooke

I wake up to the early morning sunlight shining through my window. Sitting up I look around. Josh is gone, he must have left while I was asleep. I turn on my phone to text him, but there's already one there from him.

Josh- hey baby, sorry I had to go. My mom would have been worried if she didn't see me this morning.

This guy...even when he's had a rough night he is sweet as can be.

Me- it's okay, i understand

Josh- Awesome, i'm busy today but ill see you tomorrow okay?

Me- ok baby, see ya tomorrow in hell XD

Josh- c'mon brighten up babe

Me- nah i'm good the way i am

Josh- lol ok, see ya tomorrow baby girl

I turn off my phone so he can do whatever he has to do today, a smile settling on my face. My dad bursts into my room a second later. "Give me your phone now young lady." He says still angry from last night. "Why? Because I have a boyfriend and am actually happy for the first time in forever?" I glare at him. "That isn't a legitimate reason Dad."

"Sure it is. Give me your phone now Brooke."

"But Dad-"

"No buts. Hand it over." He says completely cutting me off. "No, I won't do that." I get out of my bed and stand up. "Just leave it alone."

"No! The hell I won't!" He yells at me. I storm out of my room with my phone in my back pocket. "Come back here young lady!" I ignore him and walk through the living room and into the kitchen. "Hey Mom." I say as I pop my half a bagel in the toaster. "Good morning, what was all the yelling about up there?" She asks setting the Sunday paper down for once. "Dad wanted to take away my phone because I have a boyfriend. It's completely and absolutely ridiculous so I told him that and that I also would not be giving him my phone." My mom looks at me shocked. "You told him what?"

"No, that's exactly what I told him. If he wants to go ahead and be an overprotective ass then I'll go ahead and be a spunky teenager." My bagel pops up out of the toaster, and I butter it up. "Well, even though I agree with you Brooke, you can't just tell your father no." She says trying to scold me. "Yeah whatever." I snap and walk away to my room. As soon as I get in there I shut the door and lock it. Then I turn on Sleeping With Sirens music, completely blasting it so it's heard throughout every corner in this damn house that will never be a home to me.

First they ignore me and then as soon as I actually have something good happen in my life they start yelling at me! How the hell does that even make sense? I can't catch a fucking break. I walk over to my dresser and pull out a knife, always kept there just in case. I yank down my shorts and set down my bagel. The knife sits right on my thigh, the blade almost cutting in. My eyes close and I slit the knife across, not feeling any pain, just the release of all emotion, all feeling, all the anger and pent up frustration. In one cut, it all disappears. I cut my leg again, the blood dribbling down now. I'm just ready to be done. It might seem like an exaggeration, but right now, I don't care if I die or not. I'd actually welcome it at this point. I'm just ready to be gone.
