Dani California (An Expendables love story)

Chapter 1: Meeting the expendables

Dani's Pov

"The expendables. Interesting name," I mused.

"Why didn't you send Maggie instead of us," asked Tara.

"Because she's working a different case right now. Now why don't you two shut your mouths and start reading," Church said, throwing some more files at us from the front seat.

Church is a jerk most of the time, he makes us sit in the backseat, insults us and everyone else, and loves to threaten.

Tara and I read all the files, most of them about the case. Church had announced that we would be arriving soon. About 20min later we pulled up to shop with a sign showing it was a tattoo shop. I was starting to like the place already.

As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted with the sight of

six extremely muscled up guys. I trailed my eyes over each one, observing them . One in particular spiked my interest. He was maybe 6'4, making him a giant compared to me. He had blonde hair and was incredibly handsome in a rugged, tough way.

Church's voice brought me out of my thoughts.

"Same condition as Maggie. I want them brought back the same way as when they left," Church said. He's always trying to be intimidating. It might work at first but once you've been around him for awhile it loses its affect.

" No promises," answered back a tall man with black hair and an interesting accent. New Jersey maybe? There was a short awkward silence and finally after a few seconds Church realized his error.

"This is former Navy Seal Dani Prescott and ex marine Tara Wells," Church said introducing us.

"Barney Ross," the man said and held out his hand for me to shake.

"Pleasure," I said shaking the hand he offered. Tara did the same. And then Church left, well not before throwing our stuff out.

"This is my team," Barney said, " Lee Christmas, Toll Road, Yin Yang, Hale Caesar, and Gunnar Jensen." He indicated each man and we shook hands with all of them.

We spent the rest of the evening discussing the mission and other topics. It turns out that the one the had intrigued me before was Gunnar, and let me tell you he was funny. He picks on Yang cause he is the shortest and makes jokes. He isn't being mean and Yang knows that but gets so frustrated.

After what seemed like a only a short while it was dark. Tara and decided to go to our cheap motel room we had gotten. So we bid the men a goodnight and left.
