One with the Beast Chapter One

After getting my locker and timetable, I quietly thanked the small, rather round, office lady who sat behind her desk and turned to start walking to my first locker. Before I could walk a few steps someone rammed into me.  As I landed on my ass, I heard a gasp and a stumble of apologies. “I am SO sorry! I can’t believe I just knocked down the new kid! I’m so sorry!” I look up to see a short girl with spiky brunette hair, looking down at me in shock. I start to laugh at her horror stricken face as I get up. “It’s okay! See, I’m fine!” I said as I did a twirl. I can’t help but snort at her look of relief. “God I’m sorry! My names Rose.” She said as she straightened me. “Anna.” I replied. A large grin stretched across her face as she snatched my timetable out of my hands. “Hey we practically have all the same classes!” I smile at her enthusiasm and replied “Good, now you have to be my tour guide.” Her grin widened and as she grabbed my arm, tugging me down the corridor.

Rose turned out to be more funny and sassy the more I got to know her. She was right I did practically have most of my classes with her. She had a boyfriend called Tim who I “had” to meet at lunch and a brother called Chayton. She still was in shock that I had never been to school before. “You’re so lucky! I have been going to school for what feels forever!” she said with mock depression. I begin to laugh but quickly stop as we walk into the lunch area. Everyone was looking in our direction and Rose guided me to the food line. I saw a few smiles, a few perverted gazes and a lot of glares. “Why is everyone looking at me?” I mumbled to Rose as I quickly grabbed an apple juice and a sandwich and handed the money over to the man behind the table. “Because you’re new and pretty and Hakon isn’t here to keep them entertained” She said with a roll of her eyes. I look around again and was about to ask who Hakon was but my eyes catch on a table that had the only people not looking at us. Relief washed through me to see Rose walking us towards that table. “Guys! This is Anna! And no, bad dog!” She said loudly and slapped the guy in front of her, head. “Oi! Anyway hi. I’m-” He started to say perversely “Dreaming!” said a tall boy across from him, making everyone laugh. “I’m Pat.” He said confidently with a cheeky grin. The first boy who got interrupted said “ I’m Chayton, Rose’s brother.” The largest guy at the end of the table boomed with a large smile “I’m Ed. And this little guy is Nawat.” he said that whilst pinching the smaller guy’s cheek. “Stop it you! Hi Anna, Nice to meet you.” Nawat said with a small smile. “Hi guys.” I said with a smile and then turn to Rose who wasn’t  there anymore and I find her to be sitting on one of the guys that didn’t introduce themselves, lap. “Anna, this is Tim, my boyfriend.” Rose said whilst leaning in on him. “Geez save it for later, we have a guest!” Pat pompously with a smile and he nudged over to make some room for me. “Thanks” I say awkwardly and they all smile confidently at me. “So Anna, what school did you go to before South?” said Ed whilst leaning in to hear my answer. “I was actually home-schooled….” I said shyly. Oh god I really didn’t want that fact to come up today! What happens if they think I am an idiot or a weirdo!

“Really!? That’s so… awesome, who taught you?” said Pat in awe. I blushed and was about to reply when Ed cut me off saying excitedly “that’s why you’re so shy!” My blushed doubled whilst I said at the same time as I started laughing “Oi! No need to point it out”. The all laughed and Pat pinched by red cheek. “It’s just cute that’s all” He said causing me to blush even more.

Maybe this school won’t be so bad after all.
