Mel's POV

All I could register was the cold. That all I felt since I have locked up in this little room. They came and went as they pleased asking me where the stone was but I wouldn't tell them. No matter what I would die to protect my family.

As soon as the door swung open I knew what was going to happen as one of the man came in carrying a bucket of water. Colder than the room temperature. Then another walked in carrying a tray of mouthwatering food that made my stomach growl in hunger.

The man they called boss. The man named Marco walked in wearing a smirk that spoke volumes.
"I must say your husband sure can throw one hell of a funeral," he said taking out his iPad as we watched the my funeral service.
"Now now, be still my dear. We wouldn't want you cutting yourself," he said indicating the rope as they untied my hands.
I watched as Linc stood looking utterly lost and in pain. I couldn't even stop the tears that ran down my face. I wanted to scream at him, tell him I was still alive. Tell him I needed him. But all these thoughts escaped my mind when I felt my wrist being twisted slowly and painfully.
"Now Melinda I need you to tell me were the stone is before my friend over here breaks your arm," he whispered as I looked at the screen willing my mind to focus on Linc and my babies. Trying my best to block out the pain.

I heard a sickening sound as he broke my wrist as I cried out in pain before I started laughing. They looked at each other baffled as I laughed letting my tears fall. I had to laugh my pain out. I had to confuse them somehow just to buy myself some more time. I had to beat them before they broke me. Or maybe this was me finally going insane from all the tour tyre.
"Let's see if you will be laughing after this," Marco said as his men held me down covering my face with a damp cloth.
Already feeling claustrophobic because of the stench the cloth had I prepared myself for the worst as they poured water over the cloth. Suffocation, the feeling of drowning over and over again was exactly what I experienced.

"She really is a fighter boss," one of his men chuckled as they removed the cloth giving me some much needed air.
"Tell me Melinda, where is the stone?" Marco said.
I looked at him saying nothing as he gave a slight nod of his head as the cloth was placed over my face once again.

"We can do this the whole day, I am in no hurry at all," he said in a cool tone.
"Well I guess we have the whole day together," I said slowly taking in a deep breath.
He growled in frustration as he had one of his man knock me out.

I woke up to the sight of a hearty meal which I quickly dove into. I found it weird that they were actually sustaining my body with all the right nutrients. But when it came to getting their information they were brutal.
I felt something move at my feet as I found a rat sniffing around for food.

I felt another before moving my chair back to see a few more moving around just as the door closed. He put freaking rats in my room. Climbing onto the small bed I used I watched as they moved around searching for food. Reaching for the plate of food I grabbed  a bread roll and threw it to the far corner of the room feeling triumphant when they moved towards the other end of the room. But my appetite was long gone. The lights were suddenly turned off and I knew I couldn't sleep, because those blasted things would definitely be out for more food.

Sitting in the dark rocking back and forth as I prayed for some miracle and fending off the rats once they started searching for more food was to be my challenge for tonight. The blood caking my skin from the numerous cuts I was sporting was not helpful at all as I wrapped the small blanket around me after numerous attempts due to my broken hand. No medical care was provided I had to tend to my would using just the bandages and salt water they gave me. Each cut was painful to clean and now my wrist. For days I sat in the dark warding off the rats. A single meal was placed by the door.
