The Football Game

Start from the beginning

I came back to the door, "alright, I'm ready," Anthony's dad and brother walked me to the car.

"You can sit in the passenger seat," Anthony's dad told me, "I'm gonna drop you off at the field, Anthony will be waiting for you there."

"Alrighty," I said.

A few minutes later we arrived at the game and Anthony's dad dropped me off where he saw Anthony, "have fun, we'll be waiting for you in the stands."

I nodded my head to say that I would be there soon and then I ran over to Anthony. "Its felt like forever since I've last talked to you," I exclaimed while giving him a big hug.

"Same here, wow," he said with his mouth open wide.

"What?"

"You look amazing, but don't taje that in the wrong way," I giggled at that comment.

"Don't worry, I won't," I said while letting go of him.

"I would like you to meet someone," before I could say anything, he ran off to go get someone. After a few seconds he came back with I'm going to assume one of his friends. "This is Ray, I've known him since freshman year," I waved to Ray and he waved back.

"Oh, aren't you in my art class, you always sit by yourself, in a corner," Anthony just looked at me shock, he must think that I'm not that shy anymore, I nodded my head yes, "well, you're welcome to sit by me and my friends."

"Okay," I looked up at the game clock and realized that there wasn't that much time left before the game started, "well, you guys better go start getting ready," I ran over to Anthony and hugged him, "good luck."

Once I got to the stands I found Anthony's dad and brother, "hey," I said sitting next to them.

"Hi," Joan said while holding up a hot dog, "you want one, we got you one," before I could answer him, he shoved a hot dog in my hand.

"Thank you," I said while laughing. I looked at the clock and saw that there was two minutes remaing and the cheerleaders were in the crowd, trying to get them pumped up for the game. I saw Mak headed my way and started to panic, "I'll be right back," I got up from my seat and ran to the bathrooms.

I hope she didn't see me, who kniws what she'd do to me, she probably still thinks I'm dating Anthony. I grabbed some paper towels, got them wet, and wiped my face off. I jumped when I heard the door open, I turned around to see who it was and I saw Mak. I quickly grabbed my stuff and ran out of the bathroom, "where do you think you're going?"

This is where I'd usually run even faster, but I felt something different in me, I felt like I didn't need someone to stand up for me, "I was just heading back to the stands," I told her.

"Don't act all innocent, I know why you actually came to this game and none of the others," ever since Anthony broke up with her she's become really psychotic.

"What do you mean," I asked in a confused tone.

"Tonight is the game that all of the football players bring their girlfriends and they get introduced at the end of the game with their boyfriends, I know that you and Anthony are dating, you can't hide it from me," I was practically in shock, was Anthony planning on asking me out? I thought he only thought of me as a friend.

"I have no idea what you're talking about, me and Anthony are just friends, he only broke up with you because you were going crazy jealous," I explained to her.

"His dad and brother were with you, I saw you sitting with them, plus, you don't just dress up for any regular game," she yelled at me.

"I'm dressed up because Anthony told me I had to and his dad and brother offered me a ride so that I wouldn't have to walk here," I calmly explained to her, I could hear the crazy and anger in her voice when she spoke.

"Then why do you and Anthony always hug," she asked me with frustration in her voice, I saw her take some steps towards me, so I took some steps back from her.

"That's just what friends do," I tried to explain to her, "now we both better get out of here, because we'll both miss the game."

"Oh, I don't care if I miss the game, I just want Anthony back, we're supposed to rule the school, we're supposed to be the couple that everyone looks up to, now, you're not going back out there," she kept stepping closer and closer to me, it would just be a waste of my time if I continue to try to talk some sense into her. I turned to open the door, but it was locked, "you CAN'T run from me, I want Anthony."

"Me and Anthony are not dating," I tried to explain again, this is useless, she's not going to believe anything I say.

"Then why are you here?"

"Because, I was invited," I was trying my best to act calm, but I was scared, worried, and the most shocking one of all, angry.

"Who invited you, you obviously have no friends what-so-ever," she's taunting me, she's trying to get me to have a breakdown.

"I'm tired of the way, you've been treating me, now please, unlock the door," I could tell that no matter what I said she wasn't going to do anything but cause trouble.

"I'm not unlocking that door until you admit that you and Anthony are dating."

I sat down, right next to the door, "okay then, I'm not going to admit something that isn't true, especially to please you."

"You are supposed to be crying and helpless, what the heck happened to you? I hate this new you, you are supposed to be scared of me, I'm supposed to be getting to you," I could tell that Mak was aggravated that I've learned to deal with her.

"You know what?"

"What?"

"Grow up. Don't you realize that we're seniors, this is our last year here, we shouldn't be fighting and bullying each other, we need to make the most of this year, the year is almost half way over. It's time that we become adults and stop fighting," I said, before I could say anything else she threw a key at me.

"Get OUT, no one likes you, you're useless, you're horrible, you're creepy, you don't deserve a guy like Anthony, just go," I looked at her and started to head towards her, but she said, "I don't need your help," and so I left her there, by herself and headed back to the stands just after half time.

At the end of the game
Anthony's p.o.v.

It's the end of the game, we won, I scored the last point, the winning point, and Rachel saw it, it's now time for us to introduce our dates, I hope she'll say yes. "Anthony Lawrence," I heard the coach call my name, I walked forward and the Ray mouthed to me, good luck, "you got this boy," I heard the coach say as he patted me on the back."

"Did you know about this?"

"Of course I did, nothing gets by me, plus, Ray told me why you stunk at practice today," I smiled and continued to walk, it's senior night, oh the only thing I want is for Rachel to say yes.

"Um... hi, as you just heard, I am Anthony Lawrence and so far this senior year has been amazing, sure it's had its ups and downs, but I have no idea where I was going with that. Anyways, I met this amazing girl and I have invited her to this game, we're not technically dating, but I want her to come down here," I saw Rachel in the crowd and made eye contact with her, "Rachel, please stand up and come down here," she had an adorable smile on her face, she looked like she had a new light inside of her, when she got to where I was I said, "will you be my girlfriend?"

"Yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,"  I jumped up when I heard her say that and I heard the crowd roar," this is officially the best day of my life.
