Ryder's POV:
I looked out the window and saw Ellie fall to her knees, crying. The vet tried comforting her but it just made it worse. She left and I walked over to Ellie."Did she tell you what she had?" I asked. She nodded before clearing her throat to speak. "She had been sick with a disease for a while. I guess it's really rare in horses." Ellie sighed. "Did she do anything to Emerald?" I asked. "She put her down." Ellie sobbed.
I helped Ellie stand up and we walked into the barn. Emerald just laid there. She looked so peaceful.
That day when we buried her, we were both really sad and out of it. But I had to be strong for Ellie.
When we were walking back into the house, she stopped me.
"Maybe we can go into town. We need to get our minds off this." She sighed. I nodded. There was a party that night at the diner so that's where we'd go.
