Prove Me Wrong

If I lived in a castle of cacti I think it would hurt less
To hear you speak of other girls.
It's my own fault though,
That I built these walls between me and you.

Before you could even glance my way, I was scurrying back to my safe place.
That was my overactive sense of self preservation.
In my head it made sense that if you couldn't get close, you couldn't break my heart.

I really want you to prove me wrong though.
I want you to be my Prince Phillip, and cut through the thorns, and reach the castle, and win the princess's hand, and whisk her away to happily ever after.
I want cuddles and kisses. Love and laughter. Passion and playfulness. Compassion and consideration.
Please prove me wrong.
Please tell me I can have what I want.
