"You're so pretty." I cooed as I played with my baby sister . We were laid out on the living room floor as my dad was cooking in the kitchen .

Jessie screeched as she laughed at the funny faces that I was making . I tickle her sides which made her roar into the most adorable fit of laughter that a toddler could ever make . I laughed as I kissed her chunky cheeks . I couldn't help but to admire her features . She looks so much like our mother .

That thought alone made me wonder about her whereabouts .

"Hey dad!" I yelled .

"Yea?"

"What are you cooking?" I grabbed Jessie's pacifier off the table and placed it in her mouth .

"Food.." He trailed off .

I rolled my eyes . "I smell barbecue." I confessed .

"Ribs , cabbage greeeeennssssss , cornbreeeadddd , yeaaaaa." He sings foolishly .

I burst out laughing . My dad can't sing for nothing in the world .

"And Mac and cheese." He said .

"Sounds nice." I nodded to Jessie .

Suddenly , the front door flew open and entered a jolly old man , Kaleb .

"Guess what nephew!" He yells feverishly .

"Wassup." My dad jogs from kitchen with a towel wrapped around his hand .

"I got a job." A huge smile dabbed on his face which caused the same to smear on my father's face .

"Congrats unc!" My dad exclaims as they shared a brotherly like hand shake .

"I'll be out your hair before you know it." My heart leaped for joy when I heard that . That's the best news I have heard since .. Forever! Maybe better is coming .

"We should celebrate." My dad said . Kaleb agrees then follows him into the kitchen . I did a small happy dance which caused Jessie to laugh while holding on to her feet .

"I'm free." I whispered to her .

Jessie then begins to get cranky . I stood off the ground , and gestures her to follow me . I be getting tired of carrying her everywhere . We went into the kitchen to get her something to eat or better yet to find her bottle .

"Damn I was really proud of you for a minute." I heard my father say from the patio . The sliding door was open , allowing the night breeze to come through .

"It's not legit like your job but it's something man." Kaleb argues .

"You need to find something better." My dad disappointedly shakes his head as he swivels the drink in his cup .

"Who are you to judge me?"

"I'm not judging . All I'm saying is you're stupid as fuck for taking that offer." My dad shrugs . The door bell rung . I hurriedly grabbed Jessie's bottle , picked her up then handed her the bottle as I went to answer the door .
