Preference #17 *DDM: He's Going On A Date, And You Won't Let Him*

Liam (Age 3): Your dad was getting ready and you were curious, because when he went places, he always got you ready first. “Daddy?” “Yes sweetheart?” “Where you going?” “I’m going out with my friend for a little bit.” “Oh” You said getting up and running off. Niall knocked on the door and walked in. “Hi Princess” “Hi Uncle Ni!” You said hugging his leg. “Baby come here” Liam said gently bending down. “Yes Daddy?” “Uncle Niall is going to play with you while I go out.” You looked up at Niall and he smiled. You looked back at your dad shaking your head. “Noooo” You whined. “Baby, you’re going to be just fine. I promise.” You shook your head hugging him tightly. “No leave me please!” You cried out. Liam felt guilty but knew that you needed to be separated or you would never leave him. He sighed kissing your forehead and handed you off to Niall. You screamed and reached for him but he just looked at you with sympathy and walked out the door. “NO DADDDY!!!!” You screamed. Niall put you down and you ran to the door trying to open it. You managed to get it open and you saw Liam pulling out. “DADDDYYY!” You cried. Niall came out and got you. You never fully calmed down until Liam came home. 
 
Louis (Age 5): You were an intense game of barbie fighting when your dad walked in. “Hey bug, can we talk?” You nodded, putting down your barbies walking into his grip. “Do you remember daddy’s friend?” “The girl?” You asked confused. He nodded. “Well, I’m going to go out with her tonight.” You looked confused. “I go?” He shook his head. “But, I no stay here” He nodded. “Uncle Liam is going to come stay with you.” He set you down and walked to get ready. You teared up throwing your barbies and ran into the living room. After Liam arrived, he was getting ready to leave. “Daddy don’t leave me” You whimpered. He cooed and brought you into his arms. “I have to baby” “No! I no want a new mommy! I love my mommy!” You cried into his shoulder. He looked wide-eyed at Liam. “Baby, you’re not going to get a new mommy. You have a mommy and that won’t change.” You cried. “But if you go with the lady, she’ll be my new mommy” He shook his head. “Bug look at me” You looked up. “She’ll never be your new mommy. I won’t let that happen okay?” You nodded. “I sowie” “There’s no reason to be” Liam held you as Louis left and you calmed down after learning she wouldn’t replace your mom.

Niall (Age 7): “DAD!” You yelled from the kitchen “WHAT?” He yelled back. “CAN I EAT?” “SURE!” That was normal. You would scream at each other through the house. He came down the stairs dressed nicely. “Where are you going?” “Out” “Where?” “With a girl?” You stopped eating and looked at him. “You’re kidding.” “No I’m not” “Why?” “Because I like her” You looked at him and walked away. Zayn had come to stay with you while your dad was out. He knocked on your bedroom door. “Your dad’s leaving. He wants to say bye.” You shook your head, sniffling. “Why the crying?” You looked up at him and shook your head. “If you don’t tell me, I’m going to go get your dad.” You stayed quiet. “NIALL!” “WHAT?!” He yelled coming closer. He stopped. “Why are you crying Princess?” “Don’t go, you promised you wouldn’t date anybody when mommy died” You cried. He thought and nodded slowly. “I’m sorry Princess. I just missed her and the company and I wasn’t thinking. I’m so sorry” He said hugging you. “Are you going?” You asked cautiously. He shook his head. “Never. I made a promise to you and I’m going to keep that promise. Forever.” You hugged him and he always kept the promise.

Harry (Age 9): Your dad told you that he had a date tonight. You hated the woman and would do anything to get him to stay home. “Daddy” You said walking into his room. “Yes pumpkin?” “I feel sick” He stopped and looked at you. “Where baby?” “My belly hurts and I just don’t feel good” He nodded feeling your forehead for a temperature. “No fever. Why don’t you go lay down and I’ll be in a few minutes” You nodded going to lay down. Your dad walked in a few minutes later, and took care of you. “I’m going to go because my date is almost here, but  Uncle Louis should be here soon okay?” “Daddy?” He looked down. “Don’t please” You begged. “Don’t what?” “Don’t go on the date. I don’t like her. She’s mean and rude and I don’t like her.” Harry shook his head. “I’m sorry baby. You know I don’t like to do what you don’t like, but I can’t just say no now. I’m going to go but I promise I’ll weigh the options when I get home.” You just shook your head and cried. He held you close and promised it was a one time thing and that it would be okay. You trusted him and let him go, knowing this lady would be gone by morning.

Zayn (Age 4): You were attached to your dad. You were partners in crime, so when he told you he was going on a date, it hurt. You thought that you would be the only girl in his life. He told you so himself. “I’m leaving baby girl. Come here and give me a hug” You shook your head and hid behind Harry’s leg. “Go on” You cried. “You leave me if I hug” You whimpered. Zayn shook his head. “Baby girl, it’s only for a little bit. Uncle Harry is going to stay and play with you. I’ll be back in no time.” You shook your head and cried harder. “You said I only girl. Now you go with another girl” You cried. Harry picked you up and you dug your head into his neck. Zayn stood up and nodded. “Baby, you know you’re my only special girl.” You cried. When Zayn took you from Harry, you clung to him for dear life. “NO DADDY PLEASE NO LEAVE ME!” He sighed. He kissed your forehead and tried giving you back to Harry but you wouldn’t budge. You clung to him and stretched his shirt out when he tried pulling away. He sighed and nodded towards Harry before pulling his phone out and dialing a number. You surely had your dad wrapped around your little finger.
