5 / Final Year

I wasn't the nerd I used to be anymore... 

I changed. 

I was hanging out with them everyday. 

I learned to dance too, 

and sing. 

I was gaining popularity just like how they were too. 

The only thing that wasn't good was my grades. 

My full mark scores began dropping down to 80%, 

and then 60, 

and slowly down to 50. 

I was doing bad with my grades. 

Yoongi, on the other hand, was able to manage doing well in both academics and his extra curricular activities. 

How was he able to manage all this? 

I decided I had to leave their group for a while because of my grades. 

I had to catch up on work. 

So for 3 months, I was away from them. 

It felt weird without Yoongi around me during lunchtimes and break times.

He only came to visit me once in a while because of how busy and tight their schedule was. 

Jeongguk came to visit me a lot, though.  

We would hang out more, 

and I would help him out with his studies. 

It was really nice, and I felt warm around him.

Then one day, 

Yoongi came to me. 

He dragged my arms and pulled me away from the library. 

He took me to the rooftop. 

It was so strange. 

"What's wrong?" I asked him while staring into his ice cold eyes. 

"Will you go out with me?" He confidently asked, staring back into my eyes. 

That was the moment I had been waiting for ever since I met him. 

I felt nervous, 

my heart was thumping fast, and I was crying inside. 

"Yes. I will." I answered him.

And he hugged me. 

It was so unexpected. 

To this day, I still don't understand why he had suddenly asked me out.

Even though we were dating, things didn't change that much. 

I had to spend my time studying, 

and he had to spend him time on dance practice. 

Nothing changed. 

But he did come and find me more often at the library where we would eat and laugh together. 

It felt really nice. 

Jeongguk didn't come as often anymore, 

wait actually, 

he never came afterwards. 

I kinda missed him. 

I thought that maybe he was more busy with school so he didn't come find me. 

But one day, I found him with a girl, 

kissing each other.

The girl leaned her back against the wall and Jeongguk leaned towards her. One hand wrapped around her waist, and the other behind her head. 

He slowly pressed his lips against hers. 

Now that was something I wish I had never seen at that time, 

but now that I'm already 22 years old, 

looking back to that event, 

I'm glad I saw it. 

Because if I hadn't I wouldn't have known what kind of a person that girl was...

That year passed by really quickly and I managed to get my grades back up to the top 5. 

I passed my end of year exams with an excellence endorsement and I was accepted into the University of my choice. 

In fact, Yoongi also did too. 

And Jeongguk. 

We three were the only ones in the school who were accepted into this top university. 

How surprising is that? 

We celebrated by having a huge party and I remember getting drunk that day. 

Our first kiss was on that night. 

 "I love you Kim Na In." He whispered to me as his lips gently touched my lips and slowly, our tongues locked together, allowing us to forget all our worries and troubles.  

I will never be able to forget that night,

where I lost my first kiss to the guy I loved with all my heart. 

It felt like the world had stopped spinning during that kiss. 

Until we were interrupted by Jeongguk. 

He walked in on us kissing and coughed. 

"Hyung we have to leave now." He said quietly,

and the celebration was over, 

just simply like that.  

And our final year of high school had ended, just like that.
