Daniel's POV

The steady beeps of the heart monitor sounded through the nearly vacant room.

Beat after beat the monitor's signals jumped up before they lowered down again. The signals ment the fire mouthed, blue eyed brunette that lay pale and unconscious was alive.

The mystical furious goddess was alive. Her heart had a regular yet slower beat and her chest rose and fell with every breath.

It had reached about seven in the morning I was restless, the staff refusing to go to bed. I had not moved from the chair laying by her bed since we brought her in.

I had our personal doctor examine her. She had a sprained ankle, scratches and bruises everywhere. However if those were the only conditions she had we would have been considered extremely lucky but they however, they weren't. Aphrodite had gotten hypothermia due to the light clothes she had on and the excessive amount of time she had spent in the cold rain.

She blacked out on the way home. We rushed her inside to the infirmiry and waited until Dr. William Mariota came out and informed us of her well being. Aphrodite was alive but yet still not here.

Aphrodite was in a coma.

I glanced once more towards her pale face. Even in a coma she looked completely remarkable. Her hair was strewn across the thin pillow, it's brown silky locks glinting in the white light. Chapped and discolored her lips were open slightly but still full and large.

She resembled an ice queen. She was beautiful yet cold. But her heart remained warm and bright. Under those smart remarks and harsh walls, Aphrodite was a very caring person and bloody strong too.

Hopefully she was strong enough to fight this and wake up soon. I thought to myself, slouching in my seat. All that was left to do was wait, which wasn't something I wasn't very good at doing. The gut wrenching feeling never subsided as I stare at the sleeping beauty while I attempted to convince myself that the sole reason I worried for her was due to the fact that she was my responsibility and only a simple task.

*********

Numerous days had passed. It was her forth day and everybody was starting to lose hope. I stayed by her bedside only moving to use the restroom.

I hadn't showered and my smell resembled that of decaying meat. I hadn't glanced at the mirror nor had gone out the room, but yet I was still positive I looked as a cave man would. I didn't have the heart to care anymore. Day in day out, I sat in the room barley uttering any words other than to Dr. Mariota who came in to check on her.

Signing I ran my hands down my face as I huffed in frustration. I began to think of the "what ifs" as I slouched in the chair.

I was so preoccupied with my thoughts that when the shrill ringing of my phone sounded, I jumped. Pulling it out I answered when I realized it was one of my men, Meena.

"Morello, we've gotten it done." He said as soon as I'd picked up.

"I take it you've already placed him under complete protection?" I asked.

"You betcha, man Dean ain't got shit on us." He proclaimed, pumped.

I chuckled. "And you haven't told anyone yet right?"

"Nope man Christian's in good condition. No one's mentioned anything to your girl man." He laughed into the phone.

My eyes widened as I chocked over my words. "Nah man, she's not my .. Girl." I said as my eyes drifted over towards Aphrodite's unconscious body in the bed. The words caught in my throat as I choked on my words.
