Sylvia stumbled down the dark alley, her feet slipping on the wet cobblestones. Her eyes were bloodshot and her breath rasped painfully in her narrow chest. She wished desperately that she had stuck to a couple of maryjanes and not got sucked in to trying out the cocaine infused cigarettes currently going the rounds of Utrecht. Someone had been passing them around in the street outside the club, and she had been high enough on vodka to think it was a great idea. What a fucking idiot.
The coke had messed with her head, that was the only reason she could think of as to why she had turned left instead of right at the end of the alley. Now she was stuck in a dead end, facing the deep cold water of the canal, nowhere to run. She pressed her bare shoulders painfully against the brick wall, trying to disguise her presence in the shadows. She risked a quick glance over her shoulder.
The cyborg was right behind her.
