I'm high on sugar wafers,
Wasted on powdered milk,
Pour me a glass of green tea,
Dress my soul in silk,
I'm out of bad ideas,
Through wasting my time,
Done waiting for hours
For someone who'll never be mine.
I guess I just liked the way
You stared at me,
I liked the way you talked,
Pretty soon I lived for the way
you smiled at me,
I memorized the way you walked.
It's just that,
I've never been called beautiful before,
Sounds pathetic but it's true,
And I've never been so bereft of words,
I don't know what to say to you.
You're the cat that got my tongue,
The unorthodox match,
The laugh from underneath my stomach,
The itch I've been dying to scratch.
But I shake my head,
Shut my eyes with all my might,
Remind myself that
Just because you want it,
Doesn't make it right.
