Unexpected LOVE

Her wish (Chapter 4) Penny's POV

My eyes watered and my legs were tired from standing. The concert drained every bit of energy in me. I have always  been like this. I can't handle crowd and noise,  they always tire me.

I changed to my pyjamas quickly and went down to clean up quickly.

Merlie and I live alone for most of the time. Our guardian, Alexandre was a good man but also a very busy one. We are biological sisters, we were adopted at a very young age so we never really cared to know about our biological parents. Alexandre cared about us and took care of all our needs. He insisted on hiring a maid before leaving for business but I refused. There is not much to do around this house,  I enjoyed the chores, they gave me a purpose.

The lasagna was over which is a good sign. Merlie was changing,  I could see it. She smiled more, talked too much and always wanted to do something. I don't know whether she is trying to distract herself or if she is really healing. But it didn't matter, she was herself again and that's all I care about.

The sink was empty. Sad. I cleaned the already clean granite slabs and rearranged the the utensils in order. Before I was done, it was 11:30, it's a school night so I went to bed.

Derek- hey

The message lit up my iphone. I was fighting the urge to throw the phone at the wall. I contained myself and replied.

Me- what do you want?

That guy had the audacity to text me! I need to invest in a bulldozer to run him over. And also a moster truck.

Derek- How is she doin?  Is she okay?

Yeah, I am definitely buying a bulldozer and a pitbull, they'll come in handy.

Me- She almost died u fuckin piece of shit! I swear, ur dead if I see you anywhere near her! I mean it!

He immediately replied.

Derek- What do you mean? Died? What happened?  What is going on?

Is he seriously going to play dumb?! That asshole. His bimbos would have told him about her.

Me- You broke up with her bcz she put on weight! What do u think she did? She starved herself.

Derek- I didn't know,  can I come over to see her?

The nerve he has! She deserves better and I'm not letting him anywhere near her.

Me- Look in her direction and I'll snap your head off!

Derek- ur angry,  I get it. We should talk about it tomorrow.  I can explain myself.

I ignored the message. I had to go to bed with a clear mind. This jackass! I'm not gonna talk to him tomorrow. He has to get out of her life. She is healing and I don't want old scars to surface. I'm determined to be a human barrier between those two if need be.

I need to sleep and forget that asshole.
