"You look cute." He said, nonchalantly, as we continued walking down the pavement towards the unknown chip shop. I looked down at my dress and interally gave a sigh of relief. I spent almost an hour picking out the perfect thing to wear, eventually taming my inner hipster and putting on the form fitting daisy dress with the perky shoulders. My bright red lipstick added a hint of elegance to the outfit, and I thought I really pulled it off today. "You're also a lot taller than I remember!" He winked down at me.

I felt the blush coming and the warmth creeping through my body once more. I breathed a quiet thank you as we continued walking down the, mostly deserted, street. Turning one last corner we stumbled across a cute diner with some chairs scattered along the front and a neon sign above the door that read 'OPEN' in fancy swirly letters.

"Here we are!" Dan exclaimed as he removed his arm from mine and went to open the door for me to walk through. As soon as his arm was unlaced from my mine I felt the emptiness filling the gap and I wanted nothing more than for him to place his arm back in the spot and keep it there forever.

As we entered the cute, little diner, the smell of grease and salt twisted it's way into my nose, making me realize just how hungry I was. I looked around at the almost empty shop, save for the few costumers sitting by the window and laughing at a joke someone had told. It was very vintage in it's decor, with bright red vinyl seats, that I assumed would make that horrible farting noise when I sat down, and old records scattering the back wall. It was done up and I really liked it. With the vibrant primary colours - a different one along each wall - and the beautiful wooden tables, I felt like I had a new place.

"What do you want?" Dan asked smiling down at me. Even with these heels on, I still didn't reach his height. I could tell he was nervous with the way his smile was leaning slightly to one side and his cheeks were slightly pink, and I didn't think it was from the walk we just had.

"Whatever you want." I smiled back up at him, squeezing his hand I'd just subconsciously reached for.

He waved me over to a table and walked over to the counter at the back of the room. I could tell he came here often by the way he interacted with the men behind the counter. He obviously told them about his date we were having - was it a date? I hope we're on a date. As soon as he was done ordering he pointed at me and they all waved, the blush was definitely on my cheeks as I waved back. I felt the butterflies once more and returned my gaze onto the cracks on the wooden table.

Before I could realize how much time had passed, there was food placed in front of me and a presence across the table.

"Enjoy!" He simply stated as he delved into the plate of grease and calories on the table. I watched in utter awe as this, almost, complete stranger had me mesmerized by the littlest things. I was falling, hard and fast, and unless someone was willing to catch me, the outcome could not be good.

We spent an hour, at the least just chatting about the randomest things. From our favourite colour, to what movies we watch when we're sick. We got to know each other better than any of my family knows me, in the span of an hour, whilst eating the best chips i've ever tasted.

"You weren't wrong!" I commented, catching him off guard as he stared up at me, a look of confusion playing on his features. "About the chips. They are the best in the WHOLE world." I exaggerated, causing him to do that adorable giggle, I'd fallen in love with when we met. Finishing off our meals and wiping the grease off our fingers that inevitable time came, the time to go back to work.

"Thank you, that was really fun!" I breezed as we walked out and back around the corner, heading back to our seperate offices, walking at a much slower pace than we had when we first came round. Whether it was due to our stomachs being full to maximum capacity, or both of us not wanting the moment to end, I wasn't certain, but I wasn't one to complain.

"Would you like to do it again sometime? Maybe coffee?" He asked, looking as shy as he had the first time, even though we had our elbows linked he felt too far away.

"I would love to!" I replied, not able to contain my excitement.

"Would you like to go Saturday morning?" He asked, looking down at his calender on his phone. He had a meeting at 8:00 tomorrow (Friday) morning, meaning he wanted to do it then but couldn't - or at least that's what I was telling myself.

"That would be perfect," I answered, heaving a sigh of relief that this date had gone well. I didn't have the best history with guys, and I think I actually found a decent one for once in my life.

I looked up and saw the all too familiar building and realized this perfect date was coming to a close. We said our final thank you's, and goodbyes, and headed our seperate ways. I walked through the air conditioned lobby, watching as he stuck his hands in his pockets and walked the opposite direction, giving him one final wave as I walked around the corner to talk to Nathan and Jake about my perfect date.

"How was it?" They asked, smiling at me and leaning forward slightly, very enthusiastic about my answer.

"It was perfect."
