P.S. still don't know anything about the military
You haven't seen your boyfriend, Sodapop, in forever. You were beginning to think that he was avoiding you for some odd reason.
While you were sulking on your bed, a phone rang.
"I got it!" Your mom shouted from the living room.
You shut your eyes firmly, trying to forget the pain of not seeing Soda.
"Y/N, it's for you." Your mom let you pick up the phone. It was probably your best friend checking up on you.
"Hello?" You croaked through the receiver.
"Uh, hi.." Sodapop replied.
Your heart sped up,"H-hey."
"Y/N, could we meet at the Dingo tomorrow? Six sharp?" Soda asked.
"Yeah," you responded.
"Alright, see you then." He hung up.
You waited patiently at the table the waiter assigned you. You heard a bell ding, causing you to turn towards the door. Soda walked in wearing military clothing...and his hair. His eyes lit up when he saw you, but he could tell that you were confused.
"Soda, what..." You couldn't bring yourself to ask him. If he confirmed it, he would be leaving you.
"I was drafted. I leave tomorrow morning." Soda smiled sadly.
"Y-you can't go." You shook your head furiously as tears built up.
"I have to," Sodapop sat down next to you. He wrapped you into a hug. You breathed heavily and sobbed into his chest.
"Is that why you asked me to meet you here?" You gulped.
He nodded,"I-I...I think we should end our relationship."
You tore away from him,"What?"
"It'll be for the better good, Y/N. If I were to die---"
"Don't say that." You denied.
"It's a possibility, Y/N. I want you to move on and have a family you deserve. You don't need to wait for me." Sodapop grabbed your hands desperately. "Please."
"Okay," you said inaudibly. Sodapop nodded and stood up. You did the same.
"Goodbye," he placed one last kiss on your lips.
"See you," you sniffled and watched him walk away.
