"Exactly." Shortly following her injury—as luck would have it—Lauren came down with a pretty bad cold which only made her infinitely more irritable. The constant coughing and sneezing amplified her headache to unbearable proportions and Ally was worried when she had to get medicine to manage it.

She had pleaded with Camila to make sure she didn't abuse anything. She felt horrible for even asking that of the young brunette but Camila was a compassionate person and understood her worries. Thankfully Lauren was a little loopy from her pain medication and waved her hand mumbling a yeah yeah when they told her she wasn't going to have access to her pills whenever she wanted.

"Alright, no one trusts me, I get it. But my skull is going to explode."

"Then take regular ibuprofen. Don't make me threaten you because I really don't want to do that." Lauren paused with her spoon in her mouth and her face fell in defeat and annoyance. Camila thus far had never threatened Lauren with her secret to change her behavior or do something she wanted because it just didn't feel right. And somewhere in the back of her mind she felt that Lauren knew that. But neither of them spoke of it or called their bluff.

"You're such a hemorrhoid."

"Yeah well I'm still holding onto your medication." Lauren groaned dramatically and shoveled another spoonful of cereal into her mouth.

"You're killing me, Camz."

"I'm helping, actually."

"I never said I wanted your help."

"Yeah but Ally did and I know you won't go against her wishes." And Lauren wouldn't dare cross Camila when she held all the power, so to speak.

"If that were the case then I'd be clean and not banned from-" She paused and looked at Camila raising her eyebrow at her questioningly. "Ally's got a lot of nerve recruiting you to look out for me."

"Is that really such a bad thing? I mean, trust me, there are a million other things I'd rather do than make sure you don't go on some type of bender or something. But she cares about you."

"Yes, yes, I know she does. Saint Ally is always looking out for me," she waved her off with her mouth full again and then pointed her spoon at the girl. "You, on the other hand..." Camila shifted on her feet as she leaned her back against the other counter. There was a mutual understanding about their...unusual situation. Lauren knew that Ally was her best friend and she had been dealing with her for quite some time. Camila, however, got sucked into her mess completely by accident. "I don't see why you give a shit." Quite frankly, Camila didn't either.

"It's not about giving a shit."

"Then what's it about? Because I know I haven't done anything to warrant any type of sympathy."

"I mean you did stand up to that guy for me..." She didn't know why she was defending her decision. It didn't matter regardless. She was too nice of a person to pretend Lauren and her problems didn't exist. The raven haired girl finished the last bit of her cereal before coughing into her hand again.

"Yeah because if he'd tried something it wouldn't have ended well and who's to say you wouldn't have been so pissed that you've finally had enough of me bringing my shit around here? Really, Camz, think about it. I'm trying to stay out of jail here," she said, trying to deflect with a bored expression and a nonchalant attitude. Camila tilted her head and narrowed her eyes at her green eyed roommate.

"Is that so?" she asked, earning a simple nod. "So that stuff you said about not wanting me to get hurt, that was bullshit?"

"I don't know what I said. I was fucked up at the time."
