Once upon a time, there was...

Someone is there by us in a flash as screams erupt and the beasts leap from the shadows. Huge arms take me as Loki's eyes are stuck on his brother. Pietro holds me as easily as Loki and just as tightly to run back inside with lightning speed.
What just happened?
I hear Loki yelling for Thor and others try to stop the ambush long enough to get back in the base. Banner has fixed the door.
Pietro sets me down on a chair, but when my back bends a little to try and support my head he kneels in front of me and catches my shoulders.
I stare at him with sad eyes. My body is so drained of energy and life that I am too tired to cry. "They killed her. Jane. She's dead."
He wasn't sure before if this was true but now that I confirm it he seems to look even more troubled, his eyes widening as he looks over his shoulder outside. But then he looks back at me. "It's going to be alright," he assures me.
"Where are they?" Natasha asks Clint who is firing exploding arrows out the doorway.
"Trying to pull Thor back," he answers. "With Just Steve and Loki they don't have much of a--Woah hold on," he backs up as Tony flies inside holding Thor by his shoulder and dropping him there.
"Shut the door!" Rogers calls just before he and Loki stumble back in. the Captain looks bad but nothing bleeding. Just dirty and worn out.
Loki stands there catching his breath as well as Thor is on his knees, crying out in pain and anger like a wounded roar. The sound is heartbreaking to hear and it makes my eyes burn with tears as I breathe irregularly. I can't believe we just lost someone... again.
Laura, Selvig, and Banner work on Darcy, trying not to lose her too.
Eric gets up and asks them worriedly, "Where's Jane?"
No one knows how to answer. The Captain and Tony both look up at him but then away, both of them grieved and shocked at this. And from that hesitation everyone knows the answer.
Wanda's mouth opens in slight horror that her eyes show more clearly. And the others react likely, Pepper putting a hand to hers in shock.
"Alright we can't just stay here and wait for us all to die," Banner says sternly as he stands up.
"What do you expect us to do?" Rogers asks him.
"Get out of here. Make a run for the city. Join up with the military so we can have an army around us when they attack."
"We wouldn't be able to make it five feet without half us dying, Bruce," Natasha says just as sternly. "These things can take down ships, cars, and even buildings."
"They're not dying anytime soon if we just stay here we're like sitting ducks," Tony argues.
"None of us would survive!" Wanda argues. "But you would like to go out there, be my guest."
