The look on Thor's face couldn't be described by any less than overwhelm of horror and worry before it shows determination and he bolts from the inner room.

"Thor!" Loki calls angrily in alarm. But his brother is gone. Loki groans in frustration before running out to him, giving me one last glance before disappearing into the darkness.

"Oh no you don't," I growl out as I run out into the shadow after Loki. I am not letting him out of my sight again, not after the last time.

I don't spot him at first, just black as night and I can hear a couple of the others following us for back up. I chase after the figure with black hair as he travels around the base corner. But then he stops, breathing and not knowing where his brother went.

"Esther go back inside," he demands quickly as he stands with his back to me, trying to keep me safe

"Esther go back inside," he demands quickly as he stands with his back to me, trying to keep me safe.

I ignore his demands and reply sharply, "No. I'm not leaving you again."

He turns to face me, his eyes large and worried. "Esther this is no time for your stubbornness—" he starts to argue but something crashes against the roof of the base near us and his eyes immediately look up towards the noise. He grabs me by the wrist first but then the hand as he pulls me back against the wall, saying quietly but urgently, "Stay close to me and stay quiet."

I nod in the darkness but then realize that he probably can't see me, so I quietly reply, "Of course."

We stick to the concrete as we hear a rustling... a strange noise that I can't explain. It sounds a little like a footstep but... something weird and inhuman like a metallic growling escapes from it as something large crawls down from the base next to us. I can feel it getting closer... holding my breath and gulping.

"Do you have a weapon?" Loki whispers, pulling out his knife with his other hand.

Now that my eyes are adapting, I can see him beside me as his eyes are glued to whatever makes the noise

Now that my eyes are adapting, I can see him beside me as his eyes are glued to whatever makes the noise.

"Just a gun," I whisper back.
