The following morning, I expected pure hell. However, Misa had managed to beat me to the dramatic punch. I walked into the office to find her sat there, wig-free, with a cute yellow scarf tied around her head, and huge rose gold hoop earrings.

"Whoa, Misa!" I was surprised and elated by the look. "You look amazing!"

Misa self-consciously touched the scarf and smiled. "Thanks, Tom. I mentioned it to Edward and then half an hour later he barrelled through my door and gave me like fifty scarves and earrings. I don't even know where he got them from."

"Anyone else here?" I asked, knowing full well that Edward probably already had those fifty scarves and earrings in his own collection.

"No, just us," she smiled. "Well, Angelo too. He looked very happy this morning." She wiggled her tattooed eyebrows at me.

I shook my head at her and said, "We had a very, very nice date. But not the sort you're implying, so get your mind out of the gutter."

Angelo's voice called out from his office. "Thank you! I told you, Misa!"

"Yeah, yeah, a girl can dream," she teased, and then looked nervously over my shoulder as Barbie and Chris practically sprinted into the office.

Chris tried to trip Barbie, but only managed to stumble slightly himself, giving her the advantage as she powered towards me, her eyes fixed firmly on me as the end point. Chris reached out for her coat to drag her down, but she sharply evaded him. She sped to a halt in front of me, staring at me intensely. To say I was scared would have been a dramatic understatement.

Barbie blurted out, "Knock, knock!"

"Who's there?" I asked cautiously.

"Me, I'm knocking on the door because I don't want to inadvertently walk in on you and Angelo banging in his office - HA I WIN!" Barbie fist-pumped the air as Chris groaned, admitting defeat in one gesture.

I waited until they had both sat down, out of breath, and said, "You know, I'm not sure that joke was worth sprinting into the office."

Barbie looked at me very seriously and said, "It was worth it."

"How was your date, then?" Chris said, slumping down in his chair. "Seeing as it cost me my fucking dignity."

I went to say it was good, but Angelo then exited his office and my words caught in my throat. His shirt sleeves were rolled up to his elbows and the top couple of buttons were undone. Damn, he looked good. Did he look better today because he was doing something different, or was it because I now knew what it felt like to kiss him?

Chris snorted. "Okay, well that's that question answered."

I heard the lift ping, and Ian strolled around the corner. He took in the sight of Barbie, out of breath and victorious, then turned to see Chris, out of breath and defeated. I saw him open his mouth to ask Misa what was going on, but then took in her bald head and scarf and clearly lost his train of thought. Ian looked at Angelo, who was blushing slightly, and then turned to me and said, "Did something happen that I'm unaware of?"
