Bailey POV
The person in the mirror, staring back at me, didn't look like anyone I knew. It was a reflection I didn't recognize. But it moved when I moved, smiled when I smiled and cried when I cried. How is that possible, I wondered. The figure in the mirror had blonde hair and grey eyes, I tilted my head sideways and the girl seemed to mirrored me. Her expression changed from confusion to vacant stare. I looked back at the girl. Actually I did recognised her from somewhere, I'd seen her before. I asked her what her name was but she asked at the same. The stranger in the mirror felt familiar. Slowly it dawned on me, the stranger was my reflection. But she didn't look like I did. She was beautiful, she had soft features and rose lips. She was everything I wasn't and everything I would never be.
I slammed my hand into the mirror, with all my force. I watched as it shattered and the sound of glass smashing seemed to fill the silence. I heard a scream but I couldn't work out where from, all I could feel was the pain that coursed through my hands. Because I knew I would rather have bloody knuckles and seven years of bad luck than to have to face that reflection one more time. I seemed to have fallen down in the last ten seconds but my mind's racing too fast to remember when and how. I'm lying in a pile of glass shards and I can feel some of them pressed up against my skin. As I look down I see a hundred broken reflections of myself, each one slicing my self esteem too pieces. My breathing's lost its pattern and I wonder what dying is really like. And as I pick up a piece of glass and have a feeling I want to find out.
As I lay in the pool of glass and blood, I found myself letting go, like slipping under the waves after fighting the current. I exhale and feel I am finally at peace when a couple burst through the door, laughing and undressing.
"What the hell?" he exclaimed. Silence falls across the room again. The girl just stood in shock as they both stared in my direction. "Go and get help!" he yelled, shocking the girl out her trance. She put her shirt back on and ran downstairs yelling.
The boy with dark eyes and hair made his way over to my body. He knelt down by my side, brushing the hair out of my eyes. "Are you okay? Can you hear me? You're going to be okay, trust me. "Stay with me." I tried to say something but I couldn't even put a sentence together in my head let alone form an answer. Something about him made me want to stay but my body had other ideas. "It's okay, you're fine, help is coming, I love you."
