I looked in the mirror in the girl's bathroom. I was blowing off some time before the first bell rang. It was the first day of school and I was in the bathroom, not ready to face the crowd yet. I knew that as soon as she spotted me she would snare me into her plans to acquire the guy whoever that might be. I had hoped that after the summer was over and I got back from France that July might have grown up some and changed from the girl that only cared about her own wishes and no one else's.

As soon as she called me though my bubble was popped, she hadn't changed at all. What if this year I wanted to do something for me. Sometimes I fantasise about just telling her no, but alas I don't have the courage. I'm making her sound like the big bad wolf. She is a good person or she would be... if she stopped thinking herself for one moment and thought about someone else. I studied my face in the mirror. I had changed over the summer.

Before I went to France I didn't have the courage to wear makeup or clothes that I liked. I seemed to have gained some self confidence while in France though. My mother is Irish and my dad is.. I actually have no idea what my dad is or where he is. I haven't seen him since he ran off when I was three. The only thing he has ever given me is my last name, Hayes and a very big sum of money that mysteriously appears in our bank account each week. My mom on the other hand has given me everything, from my looks to my education.

I have light red hair. A sort of cross between gold, orange, copper, and red. It is curly and wavy. I have green eyes. People tell me that they look like emeralds. I blushed, well not people, just one person to be exact. I sighed as I thought about him. Xavier. The corners of my mouth pulled up into a smile. Then my smile melted into a frown. He was still back in France, probably thinking about sexy french girls right now. Back to my hair, right now I have it pinned up but it actually goes down to my waist.

I sighed again as I reapplied my lip gloss and my mascara and a touch of eye liner. I thought about Xavier and fell into a reverie.

                                                            A week ago in France

I nestled my head against Xavier's chest, sadness striking me at the thought of leaving in a day. I didn't want to leave. Especially when I had just found Xavier. He pulled my head up and I was forced to look into his gorgeous brown eyes. "What's wrong? Tell me", He asked softly. I studied him as I considered how to tell him. He had warm brown hair and a face to die for.

I lay my head back down on his chest. "I have to leave tomorrow. To go home."He pulled me closer. "I know, I talked to your mom." I pulled away shocked, "Why didn't you say something about it?" He pulled me back to his chest. "I didn't want to ruin the rest of our time together." He tenderly pressed a kiss against my forehead. I pulled his head down and kissed him on the lips. "Come on. I have an idea." He got up off the couch, pulling me with him. I grabbed his hand and followed him, perplexed as to where we could be going.

Minutes later we were at the top of the Eiffel Tower eating ice cream sundaes and laughing and just generally being lovesick teenagers in the city of love.

The piercing sound of the bell brought me out of my reverie/memory. I gathered up my stuff and merged with the students filling the hallways. I headed to my first class. I gathered my strength. My next class, English was with July.
