The voice she recognized all too well was the voice of her ex-husband who was Emma's father.
"What have you done! Where is Emma?", Helen wailed.
" Don't you get it? I have been texting you pretending to be Emma. She's gone; And you will be gone soon too."
"Why are you doing this?", Helen questioned, even though she felt like she knew the answer.
Helen divorced him because he was always on top of her and always needed to know where she was and who she was with. He was controlling over her and Emma. It got to a point where she couldn't take it anymore. After a long, daunting custody battle Helen thought he would finally be out of her life forever. Was this some sick form of revenge?
Helen sprinted out of the room into the parking lot of the motel. It was just her luck that it began raining. Thunder was booming and lightning lit up the sky. It was nearly pitch black but Helen could still see the faint shadow chasing after her getting closer and closer. She reached her car but it was locked and she didnt want to risk wasting time searching through her bag looking for her keys so Helen ran as fast as she possibly could. She decided to try to find help or just a place to hide. As she raced around the side of the building something stopped her in an instant she heard screams that sounded like Emma. Could it be her? Helen ran to the window it sounded like it was coming from. She peaked in and saw her daughter. As Helen banged on the window as hard as she could, two masculine arms wrapped around her waist. He picked her up and she fought with all her might. Kicking and hitting slowly running out of strength to carry on. She began to imagine what would happen if she gave up right then and there, almost considering it. But then she stared into the eyes of her terrified daughter and knew it was way too late to give up. Helen mustered up all her strength and basically jumped out of his arms, sending her head first to the hard concrete. Then it all went black.

Emma's POV
It has been two months since the kidnapping incident. My dad is in jail and my mom is in a comma. Ever since i have been living with my aunt praying my mom will wake up soon. Today I was planning on visiting her at the hospital. It sounds stupid but i come a lot and just tell her about my day even though she might not be listening. Today was just like any other hospital visit. I said hello the sociable lady at the front desk and walked down the hall to my mother's room. I sat down on the chair next to my mother's bed and began telling her about my day. " hey mom, so today i got an A on my chemistry test and-" I was cut off by someone saying my name.
"Emma is that you?", my heart felt like it was about to beat out of my chest was my mom talking?
I stood up and examined her face and replied " yes, mom" calmly not getting my hopes up in case I was hearing things. Then she blinked and said " what happened?"
Without answering i ran and told a nurse excitedly that my mother was speaking and opened her eyes. She walked into the room and began talking to my mom. We explained what happened to her.
We were going to be okay.
