Chapter 14: MI: Mission Impression - The Match

When you had somehow managed to strangle the popular boy of the school by his collar in the spur of the moment and the same guy had helped you and your friend to skip school and get back home after a shitty day, you'd actually think that he would at least try and be friendlier with you.

Well, that was the biggest mistake I made when the popular boy in question was Krrish.

Talk about being friendly, he was treating me as badly as ever. Shoves and glares (read, daggers) were a bit too old now, he found it amusing to point and laugh at me with his friends.

What more? Rakesh seemed to be actively participating as well. And to my utter dismay, my panic attack the other day, had to be the hot topic.

Oh, did I mention that it wasn't just the cricket team but the whole school? Ishan, Afzal, Tuhina and I were the major chunk of the high school gossip. And yeah, let me tell you, that was quite the reason i was angry; I never liked being in the limelight. The fact that Ishan had to dig up the wounds from past the last day, contributed to the cause.

Tuesday's after-school practice was over. After taking a shower, I had to go to my Maths tuition with Tuhina.

"Why the hell aren't you coming today?"

Who was coming where?

As I came out of my room with my bag slung over my shoulder, I saw her waiting for me at the dining table, in pale blue jeans and a plaid shirt tucked in carelessly with her hair in a high ponytail and a phone near her ear. She looked as badass as she actually was.

"Oh, fuck yourself, man! I hate you."

If sarcasm was my area of expertise, cursing at the top of her lungs was something my twin excelled at.

"Come on, I have a fucking Chemistry class on Thursday."

I shook my head in despair. The way she used slangs aloud, I bet Ma would be able to hear it from her office some hours away. I wondered how she managed to talk to Ma without cursing. For someone like her, who cursed for every waking hour of her life, it took a lot to hold them back.

"Hell! Why don't you make it on Friday? Okay, yeah, fuck off."

People said 'bye', 'see you' or even 'talk to you later' when they hung up but my sister said 'fuck off'. Yeah she was really something else.

She looked at me after putting her phone in her pocket.

"What the fuck are you waiting for?"

Now, was that my fault? I gave her a dry look.

"Uh okay," she scratched the back of her neck. "Whatever. Let's go."

Come Wednesday night and I suddenly find myself lying on Tuhina's bed in a spread-eagle position. I didn't have a track as to how I got back home from Stats tuition and my legs took me to the only room with its door opened, which unfortunately happened to be my sister's.
