Chapter 34: Grief

Start from the beginning

As the teenager was allowed to enter the premises, the boys normalise themselves and moving back to their places. When Ryo opened the front door to greet the girl with a smile, he was returned with a boiling look. "Afternoon, angel. What's wrong-?" (Y/n) pushed past the blond and paid no attention to the rest of the males present and headed for the specific quiet boy she's been gushing to deal with.

Everything seemed to be moving at an abnormally fast pace. (Y/n) marched up to the boy with heavy footsteps and as she stood in front of him, her hand automatically raised up and sharply came down on his face. The sudden action seemed to leave him stunned and confused at the blunt assault. "How could you do this?! Why would you lead them on like that?! Do you realise what you just did?!" (Y/n) swung her palm again, the only effort in holding back was keeping up only open hand attacks. "Why did you give them such hope?! Why did you have to mess with both of them at the same time?! Now they can't even look at each other. Now they feel like I betrayed them. Now I could have lost two of the most important people in my life because you had to play Casanova! Because of you, I had to watch Saki cry. Because of you, Lala is feeling worthless." With every sentence and question, came another hit from the infuriated girl, while the boy simply took each strike in silence. "Because of you, I lost my two best friends." Slap. "Because of you, they started a feud." Slap "Because of you, things won't be the same again. Because of you..." (Y/n) had finally snapped from her angered state and could finally afford to let her grief and pain out in the form of tears. Alex stared up at the mournful girl and felt even more confused than before at what he had done.

'No...this isn't how it's supposed to be. I can't make her cry, I need to defend her...' The boy watched in concerned puzzlement as the girl's sniffs turned to light sobs. 'This isn't meant to happen. I promised she'll never be hurt if she stayed with me. Then why is she crying...?' The male reached out to stroke the girl's moist cheek, only to get his hand slapped away.

"Don't touch me! I don't know what your problem is, but now I can't fix it. I don't know how to fix it..." (Y/n) began trembling on the spot, imagining her upcoming days in school without the banter with the twins, without their playful mockery and understanding kindness, and she couldn't help but feel the guilt of what a low-class friend she had been to them. "I...I hate you..." The boy could only silently take all the hurtful words and share her guilt.

After a long minute of her guilty sobs, (Y/n)'s mind began to get more lucid and clear up from her anger. And as she saw the concerned and shamefaced male looking at her with an ashamed expression, it forcing her to realise what she had just said. Her rage was replaced with sympathy and regret, coming to grips with her accusations and responsibilities. "No...no, it's not your fault. You did nothing wrong..." (Y/n) wiped a few fallen tears and gives an awkward and forced smile that disappeared quickly. "You did everything right, it's me that screwed it up just because I didn't realise what they were going through...You only tried to be kind and friendly to them, it's not your fault they took it the wrong way...I'm sorry... I don't hate you, I really don't. I hate myself." (Y/n) wrapped her arms around the guy to take back her insults and lashed out attitude he had to endure. Alex seemed to visibly relax into the female's embrace and pushed himself further into her hug. "I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry, I'm so sorry." She repeated the phrase continuously, seemingly not only directing her apology to the boy but to her none-present pair of friends. After a moment of quietly shaking in his arms with the apologies, she felt a pair of hands on her shoulders. She looked back to see the concerned expression of the harsh intellectual.

"(Y/n), what's the matter? Tell us what's wrong." The girl sniffed once, ultimately seeming to calm herself and let go of Alex.

"I just messed up on so many levels with the twins..." The male nodded and promptly sat by the girl on the sofa. Kaito gently stroked her hair in a comforting manner, savoring the consent of expressing his affection.

"Share with us what happened, I'm sure it's the least you can do to explain yourself to Alex." He slyly smirked behind her at the fond touch she was allowing him to present and her vulnerable state. "I'll go and help Ren prepare something, take a moment to gather your bearings."

(Y/n) nodded her gratitude and softened her worries at the comfort of the males. As the coal-eyed pianist and his friend enter the designated room, away from the rest of the group, Ren couldn't help but impressively grin at the genius. "That was quite the feat Kaito, I'm impressed by the speed of the progression." The other male pleasingly smiled at the congratulations.

"It wasn't quite as difficult as I anticipated. She might do a good job at using her defence mechanisms, but it doesn't take a psychologist to figure her closeness and fondness towards her friends." The intellectual proceeded to chop up pieces of vegetables while carefully analysing his analogy, "Its sort of like lions hunting down their prey; first they separate the target from the rest of the group and then as the innocent animal tires, they hit." The knife was stabbed into the chipping board and the handle was clenched tensely by the crimson haired male. "However, we first need to get rid of her 'precιoυѕ ғrιend' and she'll become completely emotionally dependent on us."

"Shouldn't be hard. We've already seemed to take her away from the two older students and that annoying pair. That b*****d shouldn't be hard to delete from the picture."
