Jack stayed silence, his gaze sweeping over me. He seemed to be evaluating me. He flicked his tail, his eyes narrowing. It went like this for a few moments, and I became slightly uncomfortable. I glared at Jack, willing him to just go ahead and lead me to the spot.

I began to doubt my decision to help out now. Maybe I could just bail out, leave without the money.

"Fine." Jack stated, snapping me from my thoughts. "I'll do it." Loosening up, I sighed in relief. Finally! The sooner I got this over with, the sooner I could finally search for the Thief.

And with that, Jack walked towards the door, not even seeing if I was following. I flicked my tail in annoyance, quickly getting to my paws and hurrying after him. "I just love how he waited..." I grumbled as I went outside, the sun blinding me for a moment.

When my eyes adjusted, I found that Jack was waiting. But his whole demeanor had changed. In the presence of his father, he was upright, cold. But now he slouched slightly, his eyes a bit wider. "Finally away..." He muttered, swishing his curled tail.

He jumped slightly when he saw that I was in earshot. "C-come on. I'll show you were she was last." His voice was slightly nervous.

I gave him a confused look, but followed. I'm pretty sure Jack wouldn't appreciate me asking about this; I wouldn't.

Jack lead me through the town, and I noticed how different he was from a few moments ago. Like I'd noticed before, his posture was different, and the air around him was too. He walked, slightly crouched, as though he didn't want attention to be drawn to himself.

Soon Jack led me out of the down, and off one of the many paths. I wrinkled my nose as mud got on my paws, pausing to shake it off. I absolutely hated mud, and most dirt.

Jack didn't stop, however, so I had to run to catch up to him. He had a determined look on his face as he led me through the paths, until we made it to a large burrow in the ground. I twitched my ears. It looked like a tunnel of some sort.

"You think she's here?" I asked, looking closer, but all I could see was darkness. I would have to go down there, wouldn't I?

"Um, yeah." Jack said, looking slightly anxious again. "She likes to come down here and explore, and we were exploring..." He trailed off suddenly, but I knew what had happened. They must have been exploring, and she'd gotten lost. I sighed. Go figure.

"Okay, I guess I'll go look for her. Thanks for showing me."

I walked towards the hole, about to climb in, when Jack suddenly cleared his throat. "Uh, wait." I paused, turning back to look at him. He was looking slightly uncomfortable, shuffling his paws.

"Yeah?" I replied, turning back to the tunnel. 'Come on!', I thought, 'Just spit it out so I can get this over with and get the reward!' I knew that thought sounded selfish, but it was true. The reward would be pretty helpful right now, and I needed to leave quickly if I was going to get anywhere.

Which again makes me question why I decided to even take this job, and not go ahead.

After a few moments, Jack finally managed to ask, "Can I come too?"

I gave him a puzzled look. Jack began to hastily try and explain, his tail swinging about in his nervousness. "Well, it's just that--this is a Mystery Dungeon, it full of a bunch if ground and fighting types. I thought you may need assistance. Besides; I'm her brother."

Inwardly, I sighed. I hated when someone guilted me into something. But, I managed to think rationally, the fighting types would be a but of a problem. The ground types would be easily be beaten, with me knowing Water Pulse and Wake-Up-Slap, but I had nothing to take care of my one weakness. And besides; it would be nice to have some company before I went exploring solo.
