PMD-Missing(rewritten)

Hullo. There are a few minor and major changes to this now. The main character is no longer a Cubone named Abby--she is a Skitty named Stormy. And Rejina is no longer a Torchic. She is a Piplup. There are also a few plot changes you'll have to read to find out about! So, without further ado, here's the story!

*This is set in after waterfall cave, the days will be longer and more. This is before apple woods)

Chapter One

Not for the first time, I couldn't sleep. While my two partners slept soundly, I lay awake, eyes open and staring into nothing. The straw of my bed seemed much more irritating than usual, and my mind refused to rest for even a moment.

With a sigh, I turned onto my back, my tail curling to rest in my paws. I hugged the bulbous tip to my stomach as I thought. My mind had began pondering questions that would most definitely leave me awake for a while. Why am I here? Are there other worlds out there? Does fate exist? What is the real reality?

I shuddered as a cool breeze blew through the window, ruffling my fur slightly. I hugged my tail closer to myself, closing my eyes as I tried to drift off. But my brain seemed to be on some kind of marathon, running through memories and thoughts.

When I finally gave up on the thought of sleep, and let go of my tail and rolled to my stomach. I avoided looking at anything but the ground as I got to my paws. I didn't want to see them.

My gaze was still downcast as I jumped onto the windowsill, my tail barely brushing the ground. I sat down, wrapping my tail around my pas as I surveyed the room.

My bed was slightly messed up from my constant tossing and turning, and one of my orange bows was to the side, the other one messily attached to my left ear. There were two other beds, each very close to each other and occupied by my two 'partners'.

The two were asleep, pressing up against each other for warmth, most of their beds unoccupied. I felt a bit of conflicting emotions at this image, seeing my partner and my enemy cuddling. My eyes first saw the Charmander, my original partner Lance. He seemed relaxed, not a flicker of negative emotion on his face. But a felt a bit of hatred towards the Piplup pressed against him. Her name was Rejina, a name that I knew I hated the moment I heard it.

Fur bristling at the memory, I closed my eyes as I thought of how Lance and I met Rejina. It was in our early days at the Guild, and we found an odd job request. It seemed pretty standard at first, with it being set in Waterfall Cave, but the reward was what was puzzling. All it had were three question-marks, and we decided to take it to see what the reward happened to be. Well, Lance did, actually. I was ready to dump it in favor of a different job that would reward us with a TM. After a heated argument, I gave in. When we got to the place, we found a Piplup, wounded and surrounded by hostile Pokemon. We fought them off(with some difficulty, since they were stronger than normal) and returned with the injured Piplup the Guild. When she recovered, she asked to be a part of our team and the guild. I then figured out what that 'reward' had been. Well, of course Lance said yes. He was struck by her beauty, as everyone could tell by the way he shuffled his feet and laughed nervously. I was against the idea. I enjoyed just being in a team with him, as selfish as it may seem. And something about her rubbed me the wrong way. I then pulled my partner aside the tell him how bad of an idea it was. The argument that followed was the worst we've ever had. We were alone, thankfully, since I pulled him into the mess hall, and good thing too. We soon began to shout at each other, and with a growl Lance said it was final. Then he hurried to tell her she could join, knocking past me in the process.
