I jumped a bit when everyone suddenly walked off, and realized that it was time to work. Well, time to follow for me.
Just as I predicted, Lance and Rejina walked towards the ladder, ignoring me completely. And again, I followed behind them, tail dragging and fur prickling. The two were chatting about something, which I didn't even bother to try and overhear. It was probably pointless anyways.
I saw Sunflora giving me a pitying look, and shook my head slightly. Even the guild members knew what was happening with our 'team'. Once a few had confronted the two, trying to talk sense into them, but to no avail. I was always going to be a lonely third wheel on this team.
__________
When pre-dinnertime finally rolled around, I was more than glad. My legs hurt from all the walking we'd done today, and I was in a sour mood. Not a word had been spoken to me the whole day.
I sighed, sitting in front of Chimecho's usual station. Lance and Rejina were talking on the other side of the room, and I hadn't even been included. I turned my head away.
"Stormy?"
Bidoof had come up to me, a concerned and pitying look on his face. I shook off the surprise that someone was talking to me and replied, "Er, Yes?" I asked, flicking my tail.
"You looked lonely." He said, sitting himself beside me. "I thought I'd keep you company."
I could tell what he was thinking to say after that. '...since they won't.'
"Thanks, Bidoof." I sighed, "It has been kinda lonely." My gaze swept back to the two 'lovebirds' at the other side of the room before I closed my eyes.
"I know how you feel, ya' know." I blinked in surprise, looking at my brown-furred companion. His shoulders were slumped, his eyes slightly less bright. My ears twitched. How would he possibly know how I felt?
Before he could elaborate, however, Chimecho suddenly called for dinner. I jumped to my paws, wincing as my sore paw hit the ground. The pain had become progressively worse throughout the day, so much so I couldn't even walk without an obvious limp.
"Thanks, Bidoof." I said flatly, limping towards the mess hall. I gritted my teeth at the stabbing pain it brought.
"H-hey! Are you okay?" Bidoof let out a shocked cry, hurrying after me. "You're limpin' real bad!" I didn't turn around as I replied, however. "It's fine."
Ignoring further questions, I went to my spot at the mess hall. Lance looked over at me for a split second, but his attention was, once again, dragged away when Rejina began to speak to him.
I sighed quietly, sitting down as the normal chatter began. I looked silently over the table, watching as everyone talked and ate, none of which I was doing. The sight of the food made me slightly sick, yet I ate something anyways. I would regret not eating anything later.
After a while, everyone except \my team dispersed. Pushing away my dinner with one hand, I stood up. Rejina was already walking towards the exit, chatting with Lance, who was hanging slightly behind.
I followed suit, ready to endure another sleepless night, but I stopped in my tracks when Lance spoke to me. "Stormy, we need to talk."
Surprised, I looked up. Lance was alone; Rejina had already went to our crew room. "O-okay." Lance was looking at me with an expression I couldn't quite place. My mind began to dream up reasons as to why he wanted to talk. Was he going to apologize? Was he going to kick me off the team? Was he going to--
"Rejina and I feel you've been slacking off."
That was not what I had been expecting. That came as a slap in the face; I recoiled, blinking rapidly in shock. What?!
