Ch.9- The monster in action

Ari's POV

So it's close to the end of stage 1 of initiation and I beat Peter and Will. I also had to beat Chris and I think she's mad at me. I told her didn't mean it, but I wasn't going to lose. I also beat Edward because we were scheduled to fight again. I go to the training room and look at the board to see I have to fight Al. I really don't want to because I don't want to have to hurt my friends. Eric and I haven't spoken since that day. Al has been faking all of the fights and I told him he should not do that. He still did it anyway. I think he has a thing for Tris or me. I'm not sure he'll blush at Tris and then he'll do the same with me. I think he likes us both, but I'm pretty sure Tris doesn't return those feelings. I definitely don't return those feelings. I only like Al as a friend. I see that Tris has to fight Peter and I feel sorry for her. I punch the punching bags while I wait for Four, Eric, and the rest of the fellow initiates to arrive. Chris and Tris come in first. I feel upset that Chris has been ignoring me and pretending like her and Tris are best friends now. I thought we were closer than that. Well two can play at that game. Once everyone arrives I have to against Al first. I wait for him to fake attack and I punch him soft a few times before he pretends to go down. Eric shakes his head in disgust. Then Four writes me on the board as the winner. Then it's Tris and Peter's turn. Tris waits for Peter to attack and then she counter reacts. She gets a few good hits and then he takes over. I see Four leave, obviously upset about what's happening to Tris and there's nothing he can do to stop it.After Tris is on the ground and Peter is playing around Eric cuts in

"Stop fooling around." He says

Peter slams his foot on her face and Tris goes out cold. Eric writes Peters name and Tris is escorted to the hospital. I walk over to Eric to have a conversation and he stares at me blankly with literally no emotion.

"What's up with Tris?" I ask concerned

"She will not be continuing training she's a stiff and she'll always be a stiff." He snarls

"Wow I can't believe you. I'm sick of feeling something for you when all you do is humiliate me and harass my friends. I thought you could change, but I don't know if that's possible anymore. As for Tris , you're wrong she's tougher than you'll ever be. She may be a little weak, but there's hope. So I hate that you're too big of an ass to realize." I snarl back and strut at the door without permission.

I walk to the infirmary and ask the woman where Tris was brought. She gives me directions and I go and sit beside Tris waiting for her to come to. She doesn't and I fall asleep. I'm shook awake later and I realize it was Chris. I sit up and see her grinning at me. 

"So you couldn't help, but be rebellious?" She smirks

"He shouldn't be allowed to treat people that way." I say

"Yeah well whatever you said put him in a bad mood so he told us to run 5 laps around the training room and then training would be done for the day." She informs

"Well I'm sorry about that, but apparently Tris is out of Dauntless because she's and I quote 'a stiff and she'll always be a stiff. ' " I say

"That's sick." Will cuts in and I just realized he was here too along with Al who remained silent

"Yeah I know." I say

"Ari I'm sorry I was being a bitch. I know I treated you badly. It's just you're doing so good and I was just jealous. I never meant to ignore you and replace you with Tris." She says truthfully

"It's alright it just hurt knowing that I lost my best friend for a period of time." I say knowing I can't stay mad at her

"Yeah I promise I won't ever do that again." She says
