My Only Exception

Chapter 14

"I thought they were coming on tuesday!" 

"Well, things change and they are coming a day early." 

"ugh. You've got to be kidding me" I mumble under my breath as I walk to the sink to wash my hands. 

It was 6:00 by the time we had finished and set the table. I was getting my dad when I heard a light knock on the door. Suddnly my heart was racing, and I didnt know why. It was the wierd guy tyler who I didnt want to say anything to. My dad and I came downstairs and made our way to the table. The girl was sitting next to her brother and her mom sitting next to him my mom was sitting at the end of the table and my dad at the other end of the table. Tyler was across from his sister and There were three more empty seats on the same side as tyler. I decided to sit at the farthest one leaving 2 chairs between us. My mom said that Katie was on her way and katie had informed Louis while I was cooking. We waited for about 15 minuts, making small talk. I nodded while everyone else talked. The doorbell rang and my dad got up to let them in. I could see him looking at Louis odd. I had forgotten that my dad hadnt met Louis yet and really didnt know much about him, we hadnt talked about him other than the day that we got into an argument. This was going to be a very chaotic dinner. 

Louis sat next to me and Katie sat next to tyler. 

"My name is Diane, and this is my daughter Annabelle but she prefers to be called belle, this is my son Zachery, who goes by zach and then there is my son Tyler." She laughs. 

Everyone is silent until my mom begins to introduce everyone else.

"This is my daughter Angela, and these are her freinds ; Katie and Louis, Whome you will be seeing alot of because they come over so often. This is my husband David and im cynthia." 

For the rest of the dinner we talked about how the Healands had moved here from North Carolina and how all of us would be going to the same school. 

"So what kinds of activities does this school offer?" Diane asked

"umm... I mean, I guess we have the same activities as every other high school. You know, swimming, volley ball, basket ball, tennis, foot ball, soccer, etc. and we have debate club, and chess. We have a lot of clubs." 

"That sounds great, are you in alot of them?" She asked

"Well, I did swimming and tennis. I am in the debate club and the art club, but I dont really always like being on 'teams' with people." 

"Wow, you really have alot going on, you must be really smart. I like that in a girl" Tyler adds in. 

Diane, Katie, and Louis all look at him. I can see that Diane and Katie wonder why on earth he said that and Louis looks like he wants to choke him. I feel Louis place his hand on my thigh underneath the table. I place my hand over his and continue to eat my food. After about 20 more minuts of talking and desert Diane and my mom thought it would be nice if all of us hung out, so we ALL had to go to my room. 

"This is cool. I really like it" Belle said as she took a seat on the chest at the end of my bed. Tyler sat next to her and Zach sat on my bean bag. Louis, Katie and I all sat on my bed. 

"So you guys want to go to a party tonight?" Tyler said after we sat in silence for about 2 minuts.

How the hell did he know where partys were going to be?, he just moved here. I cant go and I wouldnt want to go to any party he is going to with his weird freinds. 

"Well, I am grounded so we cant. and how do you know about party's already?"

"My cousin. And Im sure we can talk to your mom, and try to work something out."
