"It's four am, Sophie."

"No it isn't. It's eight am."

"It's four."

"Well, here it is, but it's eight am with you."

"Go back to sleep, Sophie."

"I can't sleep. That's why I'm on the phone with you."

"What's on your mind?"

"Everything and nothing. I'm not even sure any more. What's on your mind?"

"You."

"Me?"

"I'm trying to think of a way to ease your mind. Have you tried yoga? Deep breathing? Meditation?"

"No. They sound like hard work."

"Try counting sheep."

"Too boring."

"You have to try something."

"Can't I just talk to you until I fall asleep?"

"You could, but I have to go to work soon."

"What if I galeanthropy you?"

"Then I'm on the first flight home."

"... they're moving my brother today. They're taking him to City Hospital."

"City?"

"That's why I can't sleep. Moving him to City Hospital is a huge deal."

"It might not be as bad as you think. City Hospital has some of the best departments in the country there. I had they have a great transplant... ah."

"Yeah, a great transplant team. See why I'm worried?"

"But a transplant is a good thing."

"I've been reading all the literature they gave my parents. I don't know, it all sounds risky. Too risky."

"Everything in life is a risk, Soph."

"Yeah, like what?"

"Everything. Take love, for example. That's a risk. Skydiving is a risk. Eating sushi is a risk-"

"Eating sushi is a risk? Are you for real?"

"The Japanese have Fugu as a delicacy. Puffer fish- the Fugu- can kill you."

"Cystic fibrosis can kill you."

"Exactly. It's all a risk, but some risks are worth it."

"The risk of death by puffer fish at a sushi bar is worth it?"

"Ok, not that example. But the other examples aren't so bad."

"I just... Lucas is my baby brother, that's all."

"He'll be fine, Sophie. I promise."

"You shouldn't make promises you can't keep, Daniel."

"I never make promises I can't keep."

"Are you religious?"

"Excuse me?"

"Is this a whole, 'Trust in God and he shall not fail those,' type of thing?"

"No, it isn't. I'm an atheist but having some faith right now doesn't sound like such a bad thing, does it?"

"I'm not a fan of you when you start to speak sense."

"No?"

"No. You sound too wise."

"Can someone be too wise?"

"Yes."

"I don't think they can."

"They can. Trust me."

"Don't tell me, you dated someone that was too wise."

"No. Lucas. He's too wise. For someone so young, he knows too much. He planned his own funeral when he was seventeen. Everyone else he knew was planning their eighteenth birthday, but what was my brother doing? Planning his own funeral. I rest my case. You can be too wise."

"He planned his own funeral already? That's not wise, Sophie, it's morbid."

"Given the current circumstances, maybe he knew something we didn't."

"I think you've always know he's had CF."

"Stop being a wiseguy."

"That's an insult, isn't it?"

"Yep. I'm tired now."

"Then my mission is complete."

"Mhm."

"Dors bien, Sophie."

"You learnt some French."

"I try. Good night, don't let the bed bugs bite."

"Mhm. Bugs."

"Night, sweetheart."
