Chapter 61- BET Awards Part 1

"Good job." Miss Edie smiled at us as we sat down. We smiled as Chris Rock did a Michael Jackson tribute, Kendrick Lamar performaced, R. Kelly, then Mariah Carey.

Jari and I hit the Mariah high notes just as perfectly as she did.

"Ow! They smoking." Prod taped Jari's shoulder and waved his hand like he burned it. We laughed as the Real Husbands of Hollywood cast came on stage to announce Best Male Actor-- Jamie Foxx. Best Female Hip Pop Artist went to Nicki Minaj. Ray and Prince cheered loudly as Nicki got on stage. Brittany and I slapped their heads to shut them up.

"Come on that's Nicki Minaj." Prince said, as he curved his right hand to indicate Nicki's big butt. Daddy slapped his head and Prince gave a straight face. "What? I have Artemis Williams."

He moved both of his hands when he said my name. We all shook our heads. We sat and watched them they started the tribute for Charlie Wilson. Juno and I instantly started swaying and singing with Wendy. Jari, Isis, Brittany, Jacob, Walter, Keisha, Kenneth, swayed and sang with us.

"Y'all old souls." Daddy laughed at Juno and I as Justin Timberlake got Charlie Wilson to sing. Junk and I started singing You Are with him. Prince wrapped his arm around me. Everyone stood and waved their arms. Charlie and Justin started singing Charlie Last Name Wilson. Everyone was jamming to Charlie, Snoop Dogg, Justin, and Pharrell. Everyone started clapping as they sang You Knock Me Out.

"That was the best performance." Jari said as we sat down.

"Really though. I thought Chris Brown would knock it out, but it wasn't all that. Kendrick Lamar was alright." Kayla said.

"He was okay, but not like Uncle Charlie." Juno said as J. Cole came out to perform Crooked Smile.

"This my ish!" Isis shouted. She and I started rapping the song. We all jammed to Power Trip except Juno, she didn't really like the song because I like to sing the song all day.

"Dawg, Miguel ain't sound all that good." I said as we sat down.

"Really though." Jari shook her head. Wendy, Miss Edie, Miss Brenda, and Miss Janet got excited when Tamela Mann sang.

"Tamela Mann looks absolutely beautiful." Roc said. We nodded as we swayed to Take Me To King. Jari, Brittany, Isis, Juno, our mothers, and I started singing the song.

"Tamela killed that." Jacob smiled as we sat.

"Ooh. Look at Trey Songz cute tail." Isis bit her lip.

"Naw. Look at Terrence J fine tail. Hmm." I bit my lip and hit Isis's hand. The girls and I laughed.

Curtis Fields was amazing. Playing music from his iPhone like that.

"Dude, never knew those apps actually worked." Darian laughed. Horus laughed with him.

We all took a picture together. The girls, Kayla, Mia(Brittany's sister), Keisha, and I. Us and our mothers. The girls, Daddy, Mr. Horus, and I. The boys, Darian, Horus, Jari's little brother, Jacob. Walter, Keisha, Kenneth, the girls, and I.

We started cheering when Ciara got on stage. Jari and I started killing it. We both loved Ciara. I rapped Nicki's part to I'm Out. I didn't say all of the words because of my parents. Jari, Brittany, Isis, and I started dancing a little bit to the song.

"We gotta do a cover to this song." Juno said the song broke down to Body Party. We started grinding. Kayla and I were acting stupid.

"Dang, Ciara is fiiiine!" Ray laughed and dapped Roc. They laughed together as did Prod, Jacob, and Prince. When the song just broke down and it was just music and Ciara dancing it was the best part.

"Ciara and Uncle Charlie have the best performances." Jacob clapped as Ciara got off stage and we sat down. A$AP Rocky won Best Collaboration.

"I can't stand when rappers curse, call women out of their names, but get on stage and thank God when they win an award." Daddy shook his head.

"It's a shame. It truly is." Mr. Horus shook his head.

We laughed and talk with each other as some celebrities came to tell Jari, Brittany, Juno, Isis, and I congrats on our Award. We smiled and thanked them as we shook hands and got advice. Debra Lee, the BET CEO, came out to introduce the Humanitarian Award to Dwayne Wade.

After Dwayne Wade got his award, reggae music started playing and we started jamming and dancing. Roc and Isis were dancing the most. Them and their reggae is something you don't want to mess with. Roc was jamming more than all of us. He was a little too turnt up.

"Where is the after party going to be at?" Horus asked.

"The Conjunction House. Just like last year." Prod answered. "It was turnt up, but this year will be even better."

"Team Breezy!" We shouted as Chris Brown win the Fandaonom Award.

I rolled my eyes as 2 Chains performed. Ray was turnt up.

"Only way Ray could be more turnt up is if Kayne was here." I laughed. He gave me a playfully glare. A$SP Rocky performed Problems with 2 Chains as the boys acted like idiots. I rapped Kendrick Lamar's part of the song.

Drake won the Coca Cola Viewer's Choice Award as we waited for Janelle Monáe to hit the stage.

"When Janelle gets on this stage...my life will be done. I love Janelle Monáe." I said with a smile.

"No, no, no. Janelle Monáe is mine." Horus argued.

"I actually met Janelle, so back up." I snapped at him playfully. He and I went back and forth until she got on stage. After Janelle Monáe performed the show was over.

The girls and I looked around then gave snorts.

"Hold up. Hold up. Wait. Where the hell did the Best Group Award go? What the hell happened to the Best Group Award?" I asked and Wendy and Daddy hit my head. "What? Is it wrong to be pissed that my boyfriend and my bros didn't go on stage to get their award? I swear, for Black Entertainment Television they be f'ing over MB."

"Real talk, though. They caught y'all off on Friday then don't do the Best Group Award." Isis sighed as we got up to leave.

"That awkward moment when you check BET.com and realize your bros didn't win Best Group." Jacob coughed as he showed us his phone. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis won Best Group.

"What?! How could that even be possible? Mindless Behavior was in the lead for the voting poles. I would know! I voted so much my phone was used to picking that answer for me!" Jari scuffed.

"Like really?! How could y'all not have won?" Juno snorted in disgust.

"Girls, it's okay. So what? We didn't win. We don't need an award from BET to determine how successful we are. We have a fanbase and a family that determines how successful we are." Prod said and the boys nodded. We just shook our heads and tried to walk out of the building.

"Hey girls. Guys. Adults." Diggy smiled as he came up to us with Angela, Vanessa, and Miley on his arms. Rev Run, Miss Justine, Russy, and JoJo were behind them. "That was an amazing performance."

"Thank you." We smiled.

"You ready to turn up at the Teen After Party?" Roc asked Diggy.

"Well, I'm old enough to go to the regular After Party." Diggy smirked.

"I'm not even going to the After Party. I'm going to the Teen one so you are too. Russy and Miley wants to go. So you're coming with us." Angela told Diggy and he sighed.

"We'll see you there." Russy smiled and we all went our separated ways. We got in a van as Wendy, Miss Edie, Miss Brenda, Miss Janet, Mr. Horus, and Daddy went to the hotel. Keisha, Walter, and Kenneth cane with us to the Conjunction House.
