Sometimes, people mask themselves with a millions of lies whenever they're afraid of losing something.

Fist curled into a ball, heart's beating erratically inside her chest.

She gulped as she lifted her hand, fist almost touching the mahogany door. She wanted to knock, but her heart and a part of her mind speaks otherwise.

She was nervous, that she could feel her legs tremble, knowing that behind that door, something dreadful might unfold.

The truth. A truth that might be too unbearable for her fragile heart.

If Karlie is indeed the person who she has been talking to for months. She couldn't help but to be mad, not only to herself for being so oblivious, but also with Karlie, for hiding herself under a persona who she had thought was a different person after all this time.

She found it so unfair. That Karlie knew everything from the start.

She found it so unfair that Karlie knew every inch of her, by knowing the secrets that her tongue never dared not to speak.

For almost half a year, she believed that she has a person called Sunshine who she could talk to whenever the secret she keeps becomes unbearable. It took her 2 months to completely trust this person and to open up bit by bit, about her. She felt comfortable talking with this person. And somehow, she felt that she has someone who she could open up and vent on, the bottled up feelings inside her chest. Feelings that she tried brushing off, feelings that were unspoken.

If it is indeed Karlie, she couldn't help but to think about why didn't she tell her how she felt instead? Everything could've been a lot simpler than this situation they're in right now.

But who is she kidding? She was oblivious to everything; that she couldn't even see the most obvious expression of love that Karlie does for her, only for her.

Mind's spiraling and feelings were in chaos. She stood there frozen- fist curled up in a ball in the air, wanting to knock yet wanting to run away.

She gulped as she musters every ounce of courage in her body to knock at the door.

Knock... Knock... Knock.

She could hear her heart, beating like a war drum as silence enveloped the hall.

She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, composing herself as the door creaks open.

Eyes now opened, she saw someone beaming at her. A familiar warm smile that she hasn't seen for a while.

"Oh! Taylor, what brings you here?" Karlie's sister, Kimby greeted enthusiastically with a hint of surprise.

"Just want to stop by and say, hi and welcome back." She responded, trying to hide the nervousness in her voice. She gave Kimby a warm embrace and as she pulled away, Kimby  immediately ushered her inside her sister's apartment apartment.

They sat down on the couch and talked for a few minutes, catching up and telling stories about how wonderful the summer trip was, until Taylor finally asked,

"Where's Karlie?"

"She's still sleeping, she went somewhere last night and she's extremely tired when she got home that she slept without changing her clothes. Do you want me to wake her up for you or do you want to go to her room and be the one to wake her up?" Kimby giggles as Taylor smiles.
