Chapter 14

Charlie POV (special)

"I'm gonna put the dishes in the kitchen", Riley said getting up from her bed.
"Do you want help?", I asked already standing up.

"No thanks, but you could search my mobile, I set it somewhere at that cabinet", she said smiling.
"Okay", I answered.

I started searching her mobile on her cabinet, in the drawers, under some papers.
After some seconds I found a little box I opened it and tried finding Riley's mobile in there.

But there were only some jewelry.
I tried looking under the jewelry, after some time I felt something bigger I took it out, but it wasn't Riley's mobile it was a black box.

Now I was curious, I didn't want to snoop around in her things, but my curiosity was killing me.
I opened the box and in there was a necklace with the lettering Jiley.
I knew what Jiley meant, it was the only thing you heard people talk about some months ago.

It was Riley and James ship name.
Did he gave that to her?, why did she kept it?, did she liked him still?
"What are you doing?", I heard Riley saying looking mad at me.

She walked to me and snatched the necklace from my hand.
"Why are you mad, do you still like him?", I asked her.

"That's non of your business", she snapped at me.
"Sorry, it was just a question", I said holding my hands up in defense.
"No, I'm sorry, I just don't want to talk about it, okay", she asked now more sweetly.

"OK", I said.
She walked to the cabinet and laid it in the box again.
"Riley, could you help me", Emily called from downstairs.

"Let me", I said going downstairs to the kitchen.Emily was cleaning the dishes
"Oh Charlie, could you pass me the dish liquid?, I'm a bit busy", she asked me showing with her finger to the cupboard.

"Yes sure", I walked to the cupboard and gave Emily the dish liquid, then I sat on the stool in front of the counter.
It was annoying me, that Riley had kept the necklace, why?

"Okay, what's going on?", Emily asked turning to me.
"Riley has a necklace with the lettering Jiley on it and she kept it in a box, a couple minutes ago I was searching her mobile and found it and as she sees me holding the necklace she got all nervous", I said quietly, so Riley couldn't hear us upstairs.

"Oh, she has a necklace, I didn't know that either, but you don't have to worry about that, it's probably just a remembrance, she probably just thought you would imagine something wrong and make accusations", she said talking quickly.
"Okay, you probably right", I said smiling.

If Emily said it was just a remembrance, then maybe I was just exaggerating.
"Hey, what are you two talking about?", Riley asked walking to me.

"Oh, don't even worry about", I said smiling.
"But suddenly her smile faded and she stared blankly at me.
"Please never say that again", she said serious.

"Why?", I asked my smile fading too.
Emily turned to me and looked sad at me and Riley.
What was going on here?
"Just don't do it", she said walking to the door.

I followed her and the whole car ride I thought about what she had said, but I just couldn't figure out why.
