Not your Average Nerd

Chapter 3

Nikki's P.O.V

I waited for him to throw the first punch and when he did, I easily blocked him. I punched him in the stomach, so while he was distracted and doubling over in pain, I kicked him and he fell to the ground. After that, I straddled him and knocked him out, but not before he landed a punch on my jaw that was sure to bruise.

"And the winner is, Shadow!!" The announcer said. Everyone in the crowd was cheering for me.

I left the arena we were fighting on and went to find my brother. I found him playing with Kyle, Jake must have brought him her with him. So before Jake came and figured out I was Shadow, I grabbed Thomas, muttered a
'goodbye' to David, also a 'hi' and 'bye' to Kyle before speeding out the door.

Right before I got out Jake grabbed my wrist and turned me around so that I was facing him.

"What do you want?" I snapped at him. He just looked at me and then at my tattoo.

He looked confused for a moment, like he was trying to figure something out.  But before he could say anything, I yanked my wrist out of his hand and drove home with Thomas.

After putting Thomas to bed, I was so tired that as soon as my head hit the pillow, I was out.

Beep!!!Beep!!!Beep!!

I groaned as I woke up to my alarm clock the next day. I got out of bed after about 2 minutes and took a shower.  After that I put on my usual nerd clothes, fake glasses, and my fake braces. I also some concealer and the bruise on my jaw.

I went downstairs to see Thomas eating a cereal bar. "Morning Tommy" I said.

"Mownwing Nikkwi" he said.

"Ready for school?" I asked him. He nodded his head and we started making our way to my car. We drove to the pre-school first and I said goodbye to Thomas.

Then I drive to school.

Jake's P.O.V

When I walked into school, Abby came strait up to me and grabbed my arm. I winced from the fight last night, but she didn't seem to notice.

"Hey Jake" she said in an irritating squeaky voice. 

I sighed , "Hey Abby" I said. As I walked into school I saw the nerd walking to her locker and two cheerleaders snickering the way she was walking with water bottles in their hands.

As she approached them, they untwisted the caps on the bottles and poured the water on her. But when they did, it revealed a big bruise on her jaw. When everyone noticed, they stopped laughing and some gasped, but they just looked at her stunned.  You could also see the tattoo on her arm, people also looked at that. (reading this and realizing how much it sucks 😭 why do you guys like this?)

It seemed that after she got out of her moment of being shocked, she realized what they were looking at and ran to the bathroom.

All I thought was, didn't Shadow have the same tattoo? I guess that I'll just have to find out, maybe next time I go to her house.

Nikki's P.O.V

Shoot! Is all I thought when I was in the bathroom. Why didn't I wear waterproof concealer? I noticed that Jake was staring at my tattoo. He must recognize it from yesterday, I hope he doesn't figure out who I am. I guess that means that I'm going to have to be really careful around him. After I put on some more concealer, I realized that I needed to change my clothes because they were still wet.

So, I went into one of the stalls, took off my nerdy clothes, and put on a pair of white skinny jeans and a blue shirt, with a pair of white converse.

When I walked out of the bathroom, I saw a lot of the boys starting at me. I made my way to my chemistry class and sat down next to Jake.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him checking me out. "Take a picture it'Lil last longer" I told him. He looked a little shocked that the nerd said that but recovered and looked away.

This is going to be a long day... I thought to myself.
